I want to hear "...our next Vice President, ___________" at the convention
Who's your exciting pick that will energize and excite the crowd just by putting "...our next Vice President, " in front of their name? For example, "...our next Vice President, Jon Stewart" might be a surprising gestalt of a pick while "...our next Vice President, Cronus Protagonist" would likely weird everyone out, and therefore would not be what we're looking for as a convention announcement.

Who would excite the base, attract the middle and also win over most "soft" Republicans?

I'll go first. I think, if these four words are uttered at the convention, the nation will rise unified, and the world will suddenly recognize the America we once knew.

"...our next Vice President, Albert Gore"

Now let's get down to business, folks. :)

1. I just want to hear a name. The Bush regime, the primaries, the VP choices - all seem endless.
This is just getting ridiculous. Baseball season, pro basketball season - lead up to Christmas....we seem to live in an age where every single major (or minor!) milestone is endless and milked to death. Enough, already!

2. I have relatives visiting this country as I type, they are aghast
that they cannot find news of the world in the wasteland of ruined single minded news coverage.
They cannot fathom the repetitions and incessant "local" reporting.
They can't imagine why we, after what we have done, still think we are so all important and so superior.

(I say it's education, lack of exposure, and that teachers have had to turn into disciplinarians, and that people who have not been taught and who have not traveled, can easily be duped into that this is the best country on earth, which is why I came here, 40 years ago, but things have moved into a different direction for now for sure)

I love America - I made it my home - but damn, this localized small-minded thinking has got to stop.
We are in two wars, both of them we started (provoked to some) and we don't even have news coverage about them unless we have a way to access BBC.

3. bad government and reasons for it

IMHO one the worst things that happened in the education system was the elimination of civics class, and most discussion of government in the schools. If the kids don't know how it is supposed to work, how can we blame them for indifference and ignorance when they grow up? Edit I don't think Al Gore would do it. He has a much larger stage to work from and we need him to carry the fight on ecology.

6. Our cable news must be nearly incomprehensible to foreigners...its idiotic
They focus in only what they believe drives viewers-nothing more than reporting on whatever trashy scandal or minor political mistep that they think will make them money. Its embarrassing.

10. Yes, the Veepstakes seem to be a repeat of the interminable slog the primaries turned into.
Just put us all out of our misery already!!! That way at least, we can put all this rehashing of Hillary stuff out in the cold whether or not she is picked for VP. I'm just sick of all the drama that's been created/rehashed because people don't know who's going to be VP. Although I know this could be a sign of just how much more emotionally involved we are with the process than the Republicans are since they don't seem to care who the VP are (or at least I don't sense the same level of involvement).

4. Don't see Al doin' it as he has been there before
but "the next Vice President of the United States, Wesley Clark!" has a nice ring to it.

7. Al is an alpha male, if called, he will serve.
And he'll easily take the two elections after Barack. We might just be able to save the world after all.

5. I would be really satisfied to hear him choose Bill Richardson....I'd also be okay
with Sebelius or Schweitzer. Someone from the west or plains states with no Washington connection. thats where he should go IMHO.

8. I'm not sure this is what you were getting at, but I'd like to hear it...

"...our next Vice President, who has just developed a cure for AIDS and has perfected a cheap method for cold fusion, will now perform 'Flight of the Bumblebee' by blowing across the top of 27 beer bottles he drank down to tune while Hillary was giving her speech."
