I love my country, but I don't love the president.
I love my party, but I don't love everyone in the party.

As far as I'm concerned, nobody should be above criticism.

2. I wouldn't say that
I'd say that the thing that separates us from "them" is that we don't have sacred cows, and our politicians are mortal.

4. Indeed
Obama would be a much better president than McCain, but that doesn't mean we shouldn't hold his feet to to fire when he deserves it.

7. Then what do you love about your country (or party)?
If you love its ideals, then does that mean you wouldn't love it if it didn't have those ideals? Are you sure those are its ideals? Would you love some other country (or party) if its ideals came closest to yours? Or is it like loving your hometown football team - you just love it and that's that? If you answer yes, no, yes, and no, then maybe it's best to just say you have your ideals and leave love out of it.

8. I love my country
because I think (and these are broad generalizations, so please don't jump on me with counter examples) that we've got a great spirit, great ideals, a beautiful landscape, beautiful people, and we could be truly the greatest nation on earth if we lived up to all these things. This is not to say that other countries are bad; I just think there's a lot here to be proud of as a citizen.

I love my party because I think we've got the best vision, and we've got the best ideals to bring our country forward and help our country succeed in meeting our ideals.

If our country did not have the same ideals, I would hope that we could become a country with great ideals. And again, I think the democratic party would be the party of that change.
