Coloradans to get preference on tickets for Obama's speech at Invesco

By David Montero

Updated 12:07 p.m., August 7, 2008

The good news for Barack Obama supporters on Wednesday was the highly anticipated announcement of the plan for distributing free tickets to see his nomination speech at Invesco Field at Mile High during the Democratic National Convention.

The bad news was that party officials left many questions unanswered - including how early people should get to Invesco Field to clear security, what items could be brought into the stadium and details about how fraud or ticket scalping would be prevented.

First came the boosterism in the bowels of Invesco Field, where party officials announced the ticket distribution plan publicly for the first time.

Leading off was Democratic National Convention Committee Chief Executive Officer Leah Daughtry, who said more than half of the 75,000 tickets will go to Colorado residents.

Daughtry said nearly two- thirds of the seats will go to the Mountain West region and the Southwest, while the remaining seats will be available for the rest of the country.

1. I signed up at the site yesterday
We live maybe 6 miles west of Invesco. Not even an auto email response, so I'm not holding my breath.

Hubby's going to a game there Tuesday night. But I don't think I can get tickets for the convention at Stub Hub.

3. That sounds fair to people who have to drive 1000 miles to get there - not!
I'm going to have to pull some strings and have my aunt order up some tickets if this is the case.

4. I think each person who signs up is able to add 1 more person on
the entry.

So if she knows people who don't really want to fight the crowds down there, they could sign up for themselves and an additional person each.

10. I agree!
And some of those good Coloradans (I used to live there and probably know some of them) helped to get the convention going there in the first place.
