#9: Are you truly supporting Senator Obama...
http://blog.hillaryclinton.com/

Question #9

Are you truly supporting Senator Obama and encouraging your supporters to do the same or are you just saying what you have to?

by JR4Hill at 8/7/2008 12:46:53 PM

Answer: Let me first say, I am so grateful for all the support that I have received. To answer your question, I am completely committed to helping Senator Obama become the next President of the United States and urging all of you to do the same. We share a commitment to universal healthcare, bringing an end to the war in Iraq, and getting back to an economy that works for working families again. I believe so strongly that if we want to see real progress in our country and finally break away from the failed policies of the past eight years, we need a Democrat in the White House. I am going to continue to do whatever I can to help Senator Obama and Democrats across the country win in the November.

by Senator Clinton at 8/7/2008 1:15:38 PM

(emphasis mine)

So, any questions? I think that answers it. Time to stop the bullshit and get to work, everyone.

4. You have a choice:
you can be negative or you can be positive.

Obama has chosen to be positive about Democrats and focus his attention of McCain. That's a winner's strategy.

Edited on Thu Aug-07-08 01:47 PM by Phx_Dem
means that. I'll try to give her the benefit of the doubt, but since I really don't trust her so it won't be easy. Actions speak louder than words so we'll see what she does. I'm crossing my fingers. And I'll keep my yap shut about her if Hillary supporters will do the same.

Actions mean everything.

Let's see how she acts from this point forward.

8. Obama has built his whole campaign
around words; obviously a lot of people thought that words do mean something.

9. He doesn't bring just words! Thanks for playing the Hillary game!
Obama has a sound, policy platform and solid strategies to bring about those changes. Not just WORDS!!! He's been right on Iraq; he's been right on the economy; he's been right on just about all the major issues, except for FISA. Not just WORDS!!

he didn't have a sound platform and strategy but until he gets elected, it's all words and speeches.

the post upthread nails it: you have a choice: be positive or be negative. Either way, it's high time you stop scapegoating the clintons. Bill Clinton doesn't owe you a fucking thing.

thanks. :hi:

11. She's acted perfectly and appropriately at every stage so far, IMHO.
She's got nothing to atone for. She fought a hard primary battle, she lost, and now she's helping Obama. Her actions and words are in perfect alignment. You can be like Obama and move forward, or you can wallow behind. If I can keep my opinions of Obama to myself, you can keep yours about Clinton to yours. Or else, you can become a divisive factor, keep spouting bullshit to drive the sides apart, and be part of the problem. Your choice. Mine, too, though I've made mine.

14. I tend to agree. "I am totally committed" leaves out the personal part.
"Yes."

"Of course."

"Unequivocally."

Would like to hear it. August is going to be an interesting month. I have no doubt that Hillary is committed to support Barack as the Dem nominee, don't get me wrong.

But anyway, we will see, as we approach the convention. PUMA will love this, but they do seem to be growing in exposure and fury. Not a good thing for the future of the country.

15. Clinton privately telling people she thinks Obama will lose, per ABC.
Now...ABC has been the source of a lot of BULLSHIT so..... I dunno... but it pisses me off to no end that the story is out there. And I'm pretty pissed of at Bill Clinton for his jackass word-parsing on Obama "support" the other day. :(

22. Then may be she can stop the drama, say she will not be the VP nominee,
withdraw her name from the Convention, and start campaigning earnestly for Obama.

Right now, even when she does positive things, the media are twisting them in a way that is negative and all about them, not Obama. The presidential show has to be about the nominee, not his surrogates.

Of course, the Clintons will always be big names, but they have to make clear they do not lead the show, and right now, they do not.

24. Good for her
I appreciate that she has almost zero control over the PUMA people (who, from observation, are less supporters of Hillary as they just really, really hate Obama) and she's acted perfectly appropriately since her concession.

The sole thing I would like to see Hillary do differently is that I'd like to see her say that she won't seek and wouldn't accept the VP nomination. Even if she changes her mind later (as politicians do), it would probably make things easier right now but that's obviously her choice. I think she'd be a better fit as Sec of Health or Education anyway.

35. Right words.
But the wording of a single statement is hardly the point, and won't "stop the bullshit." Was anyone expecting her to say that her support is a lie, or less than completely sincere?

I'm still glad to hear her say it so unequivocally.
