My theory:

The Obama camp has given the wink and nod to the few people left on the short list... I believe they want to see who will step up and cover for Obama during his vacation.

Just a thought.

1. Someone should keep an eye out for one of those short-listers

to suddenly pop up in Hawaii. A five-day vacation would be the perfect time to strategize with a VP pick, IF it could be done in secrecy.
