for going home for vacation.

HAWAII!!!!????!!!??? What kind of half-breed Muslim grows up in Hawaii anyway????!!1????

It'll all be a short-term blip on the radar screen, provided that he avoids bare-chested romps in the ocean. And reporters, understanding that Holiday season trips to the South Pacific are at stake, might even play along.

1. Yes. We should not see our presidents or our presidential candidates swimming.

2. He wants to spend time with his ailing grandmother
And connect with family and friends back in his home state. What could be more "American" than that?

5. I don't know, what could be more American than free speech and opposing illegal wars?
"Hawaii" will be fodder for the Rove he's-not-one-if-us campaign. It's all a steaming pile but it will fly anyway. I expect Obama to stage manage the trip carefully to keep things under control. Putting Granny front-and-center will be part of that effort.

6. McCain was born in Panama
Which is a whole lot more "foreign" than Hawaii.

10. Put the MSM Kool-Aid down
You're being paranoid for no reason. No need to put granny in front of the cameras.

11. He looked a little tired at his Indiana appearance
Obviously he looked much sharper and on point than McCain, but it was clear that he needed a break.

18. I say that if he needs to pay a political price just to get some rest, it's worth it.
At the very least, the price he pays now is cheaper than the price he would need to pay if he took the vacation much later in the election cycle. I mean, despite all his accomplishments, Obama's only human. He was going to need a vacation sooner or later and this has been one of the longest, if not THE longest, election campaign ever. He's been campaigning for at least a year and a half now (if I remember correctly).
