1. What an expensive way to preach to your choir
I'm pretty sure the only people who will be interested in it are Dittohead knuckledraggers who'd never vote for him anyway.

3. Toilet paper is cheap and disposable. Given there are only 100 days
to go they better sell like hot cakes. After that
they'll be as valuable as Envir Hoxla's Biography.

4. We all know it's bullshit...
... but how much do you want to bet that one of the dumb ass pundits will cite that this book is on the best seller list as a rational for believing that there's a huge secret anti-Obama majority out there.

7. I think everyone knows now the the NYT best seller list is just a Chapters loss leader list.

Straight to the bargain bin before the ink is dry.

9. You'd think...
... but I can remember that same old "Well, somebody must be buying it! It's on the best sellers list!" canard being used numerous times over the past couple of years.

14. Yeah, I hear you talking. People who don't read think best seller means good. Anyone

who has gone beyond the tenth grade knows
book bin best sellers are crap. As much
wasted paper as the yellow pages.

11. My experience is that a PhD is something a University awards you if you stick around

long enough. After serving time as an teaching
assistant for ten years, they give you your PhD
and kick you out into the world. Unless you publish
in your field after your dissertation.

Looks like Corsi co authored a gov't report in
1972 and then vanished into neo con Siberia until
he turned his hate of Kerry into a cottage industry

10. Another bulk buy by Reich-wing asswipes
As with Ann Coulter, I am positive someone made a huge bulk buy to put the book on the NYT bset seller list.

They will be piled high at $4.99 at WalMart in weeks.

Even his fellow swiftboaters don't want anything to do with him anymore.

It sure is saying something when scum like that doesn't want to be associated with you.

you, "OK dick smack now it's time for you to find
a job."

16. That might be true way up north...
...but down here in the states, some institutions actually make you work for your degree. Not all of them, true, but a good number. And not just in Physicis!!! In all branches of Sceinec!

17. Yeah science. But I've seen a lot of dead wood in English, Philosophy and Art History

Art History especially. Art History PhD candidates hang
around longer than the art they're studying.

One guy I new was on his fifth year with no end in
sight. He had taken two leaves of absence already
and was only two years in. When I left he was still
there. I found out that he did his defense two years
after I left and got a soft landing Assistant Professor
gig through his adviser at the University of Chicago.

Another guy I knew limped his way to a Assistant Professorship
at Tampa with the help of the same adviser.

I can't complain. I got a fellowship from the same adviser but
damn young Art Historians are about as interesting and talented as
librarians. Maybe less so.

21. Yes, that's true.
I think part of the time, though, it's the advisor's fault. I knew one former grad student (English lit) whose advisor was using him as (almost) free labor. There was no end in sight. Finally he gave up and went to law school.

At least the two students you mentioned ended up with jobs. That often doesn't happen, even for well-qualified and motivated students.

In many science programs, more students are accepted (and graduated) than there are professorships available. The system provides a huge quantity of very cheap labor so there's no incentive to push students through in a reasonable amount of time, let alone take on only enough students to make sure each will get a job in the field after graduation. The fact that most students get through in a reasonable amount of time has more to do with individual drive than the program itself. A significant number of well-qualified graduates end up leaving the field after doing two or more low-paying post-docs. That's why it's funny to hear pundits cry out over the fact that so many science students are foreign, and will be returning to their home countries after their degree. At least they will have jobs there.

I think the worst Ph.D. programs are in Education, however. Doesn't take much to get an Ed.D!

18. If this isn't election tampering, I don't know what would be..
Edited on Thu Aug-07-08 03:59 AM by SoCalDem
I know we have the first amendment, but this shit's ridiculous.. If Obama's people acknowledge it, they "lose", and if they ignore it, they also "lose"..

That's the harm with swiftliars... They can,and and DO print lies..and intend to force their target to deny the lies..

Lazy "media" invites them on tv to dicuss their "book", and they make a lot of money from the partisans

It;s all such a scam..

Republicans "control"

Regnery Press
Fox News
Wall Street Journal
Newsmax
New York Post
ClearChannel's THOUSANDS of radio stations

They just push their "sausage" through all the above "casings" and keep turning out the "weiners of deception"...

Once their spin/talking points have been run back and forth through their own "venues", it's mainstream enough to be included in CNN/MSNBC/Big-3

dems always play defense because we don't "run" much, and most dems are not that into character assassination..

assassanations are a right wing thing :(

19. Libel is a hard charge to make stick in court against politicians during an

election campaign. The last time was when Goldwater
sued the NYT and won during the LBJ/Goldwater election.
