Devout Hillary fan may defect to McCain
Source: NorthJersey.com

Meet Caren Z. Turner, a Democratic fund-raiser, a devout supporter of Hillary Clinton, and a lobbyist with a 25-year Inside-the-Beltway career.

Now Turner, who shuttles between Washington and her home in Tenafly, may include this entry on her political résumé: defector to Republican John McCain.

"I am not comfortable with Obama," Turner said in an interview with The Record last week.

Turner, who began this year as a member of "The Group,'' an informal committee of Hillary Clinton's top New Jersey fund-raisers, is now a member of Together4Us, a group of disenchanted Hillraisers who recently sounded out Carly Fiorina, a top McCain adviser.

Barack Obama, she believes, benefited from Democratic Party nominating rules that disenfranchised voters in Florida and Michigan and gave disproportionate clout to states with caucuses. He benefited from the "misogynistic" Hillary-bashing and did nothing to stop it.

You are right though about if enough like her decide to support McCain, mind you Obama was not my first choice either, I would have prefered Edwards and then Hillary and then Obama in that order as the nominee however I'll still be voting for Obama in the hope he does whats right and needed for the country where as with McCain I just dont have much hope for him being different than Bush.

If these so-called clinton supporters vote for mccain, they are not doing it because they believe in Democratic values or they would not be even considering voting for mccain

Obviously, they have no problem with judges like scalia or thomas

They have no problem with the privitization of social security and medicare, or healthcare for those that uninsured.

In my view they are irrelevent scum who don't deserve the attention they are getting

Maybe the idiots that run the media can actually focus on where the candidates stand on the issues

46. Yowza!!
If it were gender solidarity you sought, you would by definition join with your black and brown sisters come November, and do what you know good and well they are going to do, in overwhelming numbers, which is vote for Barack Obama.

Whoosh!!

And you wonder why women of color have, for so long, thought (by and large) that white so-called feminists were phony as hell? Sister please...

Gadzooks!!!

But for you to act as though you are the indispensible voters, the most important, the ones whose views should be pandered to, whose every whim should be the basis for Party policy, is not only absurd, it is also racist in that it, a) ignores and treats as irrelevant the much more loyal constituency of black folks, without whom no Democrat would have won anything in the past twenty years (and indeed the racial gap favoring the Democrats among blacks is about six times larger than the gender gap favoring them among white women, relative to white men); and b) demonstrates the mentality of entitlement and superiority that has been long ingrained in us as white folks --so that we believe we have the right to dictate the terms of political engagement, and to determine the outcome, and to get our way, simply because for so long we have done just that.

(Faints.. wakes up and staggers back to keyboard...)

I think I need a cigarette after reading that!! Good Lord, that just blew my mind....

55. Hillary can stop this
She may not have the ability to shut down the PUMA movement, but if she pressured her top donors to stop whining to the media about Obama and making a big show of defecting, she could probably stop these kind of articles from propping up. I am trying to trust her and I do appreciate her campaigning on behalf of Obama, but the fact that these stories keep propping up is making it hard to trust her and believe she is doing everything she can. If she wants any shot at being VP she needs to get her top donors in line. She can't force them to donate to Obama but she can get them to shut up.

to do anything. She has endorsed Obama and has asked her supporters to vote for him. She has met with her top donors and has asked them to donate to Obama's campaign. She is keeping her promise to campaign for Obama and has made appearances with him and on his behalf. However, there are limits to what she can do.

61. every election cycle, a few turncoats sell out to the dark side
It's predictable, because many of those people are merely serving their own needs, and when they become more and more conservative, it's natural to sell out to the GOP.

There will always be Democrats who sell out and become Republicans, because as people get older, they tend to get more conservative. So some elderly person who has been a Democrat but becomes a Republican isn't all that unusual.

Someone should explain to her that just because her feathers are ruffled doesn't make Obama misogynist. Don't you hate people who can't accept defeat without trying to create false notions of why their candidate lost?

79. Sad to see people who care about personalities more than issues.
Barack Obama has a nearly identical platform to Hillary Clinton. John McCain has a fundamentally opposite platform on most issues.

It's too bad for some people its "personal" rather than about the issues that affect real Americans.

84. All the drama.
Guys. This is a new poster. Everyone has to start somewhere, but this one starts with a post to dredge up the primary fight, stir up the Hillary Haters, bait the former Clinton supporters, and generally get the pot boiling. I know it is a blow to the patella, but these knee jerk reactions are not productive. Go form a "I Hate Hillary" forum. DU is about Democrats getting elected, not dividing the party.

rational democrat could vote for McCain, much less raise money for him. Unless of course she's a racist but won't admit it. These women make all of us look bad and it's embarrassing.

So, my call is irrational racist.
