Hillary's back! -- To campaign with Obama this Friday in Nevada and for pre-convention unity swing
Edited on Mon Aug-04-08 06:51 PM by jefferson_dem
Hillary's back!

Glenn Thrush, in his Politico debut (!), emails over this scoop:

Hillary Clinton will campaign for Barack Obama this Friday in Nevada and hit the Miami area on Aug. 21 for a fundraiser and rally as part of a pre-convention unity swing, according to people close to Clinton.

"She's flying solo," said a source familiar with the events, although there's "a chance" Obama could join her in Nevada.

The former first lady is also kick-starting her long-dormant leadership PAC to dollop cash on congressional candidates who have called her for support, Clinton told a group of about 50 backers who gathered today in the offices of the Philadelphia law firm Wolf, Block, Schorr and Solis-Cohen law firm.

"It was a thank-you thing for her donors," said Alan Kessler, a partner in the firm who supported her. "But she was asked about her campaign debt and she does take it really seriously. She said she intends to make good on her financial commitments."

2. With Obam's numbers dropping, perhaps Obama should put Hillary on hold?

5. Really? I thought the opposite. With his numbers dropping
he should ask her to tour with him.

21. With people like you blabbing,
Cynthia McKinney starts to look appealing. Is this your intention....to force HRC supporters away from the Dem candidate and toward an intelligent Afro-American woman candidate?

Keep it up. What ya gonna do if women stay home on election day? Go read some stats on how Dems get elected...you can read, right?

7. Where are all the PUDA's?
(Party Unity Disruptor Advocates, who post thread after thread reliving their not very well disguised vitriol against Hillary).

They never seem to post in the threads that encourage unity or mention the good things Clinton is doing for Barack.

Thanks for the OP, JD. :)

10. Tell me about it, ruggerson -- I've posted topic after topic on news stories about the things HRC is
doing to help Obama, only to see them drop like a rock, with only a few replies. And then a PUDA (love your nickname for the Clinton haters) will post to complain she isn't doing anything for him.

OTOH, let a PUDA launch a Clinton-bashing thread, or someone else dare to suggest she's the best pick for VP, and the PUDAs come crawling out of the woodwork...

14. that works too
When you spot a PUDA (PUTA), stop and say "hello, PUDA."

Irrational haters usually need stroking, so greet them warmly and lovingly.

And by name.

35. I've already been put on "the list".
I'm being watched for speaking out.

In another thread I made a smart ass remark (I know, ME make a smart ass remark? What a shocker!) and was basically told I should "not be suprised if I get thrown off ("the Unity Train").

11. It is also funny
that these PUMA types do not follow the calls from Hillary for unity.

Can any PUMA supporter tell me why they attempted to undermine her fund raising efforts by claiming her debts were cleared by July 4?

Hillary is far superior to the bigots who claim to be her supporters. It is a pity her campaign decided to pander to the most despicable of them.

13. I have no problem with Hillary or the campaign she ran
and if Obama lost there would be PUMAs too.

People got too wrapped up in the personalities and not enough of the policies which there is very little difference.

33. It is not personality
or Hillary hate to attack the PUMA front organisations. They are a group of 22 bigots who will do anything to destroy the Democrat candidacy and indeed they will take Hillary down with them. After all, Bowers went of Faux News claiming that they had cleared the Hillary campaign debt, which was nothing but an outright lie. Except for furthering even more divisions I cannot see why he did that.

Darragh Murphy and Larry Johnson are both Republicans.

Despite how few in number they are, Faux News and the Internet make them appear bigger organisations than they are.

Would Obama have had similar Repug fronts? I doubt with such levels of hate (also who would they have got to organise them). These organisations thrive because of the "kitchen sink" strategy adopted by Clinton. They are however the swiftboat organisation of this campaign and they must be tackled.

17. To compare me
to some bitter PUMA who falls for Republiscum like PUMA or NoQuarter is laughable. There were many problems with the Hillary campaign it is however OVER and while McWar will use her quotes that should not stop us taking our eyes of the greater prize and that is getting rid of the Republicans.

Bill I am not so sure about. I honestly don't know whether I want him out there campaigning for Obama. He caused so many problems for Hillary...I think she might have been better off without him in the campaign.

15. I think this is great
If Romney can get out there for McGaffe and no one calls him on all the stuff from there primary then I think Hillary should be able to do it without the press hounding her and asking her about the stuff that was said in the democratic primary. I think that Obama and Hillary are most likely fine with each other it's their "people/handlers/spokesperson" and supporters that have/had the issues.

I'm all for true unity.

32. She is a kickass debater
And that would be an asset to him as VP. And she does have a following, and she's a good attack dog if she's willing to play that role as VP. I kind of feel like he should have just picked her right away...picking her now seems kind of strange somehow. I am really really torn on the prospect of HRC as VP...I think if Bill didn't come along I'd be definitely for it.

VP speculation is nuts. The "a chance" Obama could join her in Nevada thing is interesting.

30. Excellent
I'm really glad she's going to be out there campaigning for him. I admit that I didn't expect her to really make good on her promise to campaign for him other than a few obligatory appearances. Hopefully the more she is out there encouraging her supporters to support Obama the more the PUMA crap will die down.
