Hillary on her VP prospects: It is "Barack's decision and his decision alone" HOWEVER...
Edited on Mon Aug-04-08 04:23 PM by Roberto1223
When asked whether she was being considered for Vice President, she said that was "Barack's decision and his decision alone."

She noted that essentially, it the first decision he has to make as President. He has to be confident that the person he chooses could be the next President, not just someone who could help him win. She thinks he should make that his primary objective in selecting a VP.

She said she's told Obama that "the real test is not what happens in the campaign, but what happens in the White House. If you think the campaign is hard, just wait until you get to the White House."

If you think the campaign is hard, just wait until you get to the Whitehouse?
And how is this supposed to help Obama? Hmmmm... but it feeds right into McCain's inexperienced message.

5. It's hardly the first Clinton statement that has reinforced the McCain memes against Obama.
I hope someone is keeping a list b/c in totality, it's pretty obvious what is going on. I think the Clintons are trying to force their pick onto the ticket b/c they would be beholden to Clinton if anything happened to Obama and if Obama loses there is 2012 (so they hardly have much incentive to push for the best VP pick).

10. You're right...another "off" comment.
...along with the implication that she's done a lot more for Obama than others would have. OK, great, thanks Hillary.

I wonder if she knows she won't be the VP pick and can't help but let some disappointment slip out in her comments?

Sorry, but I just do not believe she's over her loss, and I also don't think she's altogether sorry about being featured in McCain's ads. That's my "spidey sense" about everything the Clintons have said with regard to Obama and this campaign.

14. Nope, just another unreasonable complaint against her, one of many. And she has done a lot
most for Obama then many others would have IMO.

16. We'll agree to disagree. The Clintons seem to be near-perfect in your view
from what I've read, and to you, Obama is the great evil who destroyed Hillary's campaign.

For you, ANY criticism of Hillary is "unreasonable". I'm not sure you even acknowledge that her compliment of McCain as having a "lifetime of experience" could be a problem. :eyes:

18. I'm trying really hard to like him. And I said I would vote for him. As for her comments,
that is part of a campaign. If Hillary had won there would have been ads of Obama saying "she'll say or do anything to win," and "she's the master of the broken system....incapable of bringing change to Washington." Every candidate has to deal with this stuff, including Gore in 2000 after the Bradley challenge--it is part of running for president.

It can't be long now.

I just want Barack to assemble a strong team that can fix all the cr@p the Bushies will leave behind. They'll have their work cut out for them!

12. Everytime I believe that she will make a statement that will make her a stateswoman.....
she throws in some snark.

It really diminishes her, and makes her look small like a John McCain.

20. it really is stunning
time after time she and Bill are presented with oportunities to jump on board. Yet time after time they start out well then throw in a qualifier that completely negates anything positive they said in the first place.

They are still the roadblock to unity. Is it really so hard for them to let it go and get with the program?

Thankfully the VP pick will come soon and the speculation will finally be ended.

19. Bill Clinton doesn't seem to support Obama...
Obama might be wise to avoid Hillary because of Bill.

Bill and Hillary are a team, you get two for the price of one.
