OMG!! McCain is going to STURGIS!?!?!?
Edited on Mon Aug-04-08 04:15 PM by proud2Blib
McCain will share Sturgis stage with REO

LAFAYETTE HILL, Pa. | John McCain hopes to enhance his appeal to blue-collar voters and those in the Northern Plains with a visit to a giant motorcycle rally in South Dakota.

The Arizona senator will be campaigning for votes Monday at what amounts to an annual motorcyclists' Woodstock in Sturgis, S.D. The event, billed as the largest rally of its kind in the world, is known as the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally. It features nine nights of entertainment, with bands including Def Leppard, Lynyrd Skynyrd and REO Speedwagon. McCain will speak about dinnertime.

Before heading to South Dakota, McCain started his week with a visit to the National Label Co. in Lafayette Hill, Pa. The 97-year-old, family owned business makes labels for an array of products, from medicines such as Tylenol to shampoos in the Suave family.

McCain and his wife, Cindy, paused at several points to examine the products and their labels, with Cindy McCain quipping at one point that the entourage could use some to cure campaign trail ills.

McCain planned to tour a nuclear power plant in the battleground state of Michigan on Tuesday.

13. I have been to Sturgis
It's the last place in the entire country a politician will find support.

And his security will be a nightmare.

4. I know a lot of bikers who ride in Operation Rolling Thunder....
...who will gladly show Senator Angry Old Prick the door, face first, because of his voting record on veteran issues.

This should be quite good.

and heckle the marchers. Or assault the Gold Star Fathers.

black leather harley inspired dominatrix regalia. Right up her bored, kinky, rich girl alley.

Probably the very thing that attracted the old geezer to her in the first place.

I think cindy's got some real freak goin' on.

20. Have you ever been to Sturgis?
I have. It's not a presidential event.

First the cheese aisle, then the poorly attended country concert, now Sturgis. Signs of a failing campaign.

29. It depends on your definition of a good time
It's a little bitty town of about 5000 that has 500,000 guests for a week once a year. The people who live there leave and rent out their houses for exhorbitant amounts. Motels from as far away as 200 miles are booked as much as a year in advance and jack up their rates. You can't walk down the street without being mobbed by drunk bikers. Every single thing you want to do, eat, go to the bathroom, go shopping, drive down the street, everything involves a long wait in a long line.

We picked out concerts we wanted to go to, and were either unable to buy tickets or they were canceled. Most at the last minute. That left literally thousands of mostly drunk bikers with nothing to do but get mad.

They arrest 200 people every day. I met a girl who was standing outside a bar, talking to a guy who was smoking a joint. She got arrested (he did too) and she had to spend the night in jail and pay a $100 fine. For talking to a guy. She claimed she didn't even know he was smoking a joint until the cops told her he was.

We were pulled over for running a stop sign. But there was no stop sign. It was just cops who wanted to search our car. They kept asking us if we had bought any drugs in Sturgis. I wanted to say they were the ones on drugs since they were seeing invisible stop signs.

I am glad we went. But I would never go again. Too much of a madhouse.

30. McThusalah will be speaking at the same time as the women's wrestling, who are are the main stage!
But it is hard not to notice the evocative, non-political sideshows that will literally surround McCain's speech. As the presumptive nominee takes the stage, the "Ringin' Wet & Wild" women's wrestling event will be taking place on the main amphitheater. Two hours before then, the "Miss Buffalo Chip Beauty Pageant - Bikinis on the Beach" will be staged at a different venue. That affair is described by ESPN's Jim Caple as "essentially a topless beauty pageant. And occasionally bottomless, too."

McCain doesn't even rank the main amphitheater!

33. "McCain will speak about dinnertime."
"My friends, dinnertime is an important time to me. By late afternoon, I get hungry and irritable. Then my dinner is served and I am somewhat less irritable. But dinner can also make you sleepy. By shortly after dinnertime, I need to go have a lie-down. That is why dinnertime is so important, my friends."
