Why the hell are people freaking out over the Rasmussen poll?
Edited on Mon Aug-04-08 03:36 PM by ProSense
There has been no dramatic shift in the poll for weeks.

In fact, the poll had McCain and Obama tied on July 13 and July 19. The entire picture shows a few significant bounces for Obama (outside the MoE by two or three points), but McCain's numbers are pretty much flat.

The media is distracting left blogs with these stupid polls, trying to give the impression that McCain is having success. There is an energy debate going on, and McCain is losing that debate as Lieberman, Hess and other factors enter into it.

This is probably the best blog piece on the polls: McCain up 11 in Gallup Minutely Tracking Poll!

Ridiculous!

1. They were freaked out before they read it.
If it had Obama up by 80 points, they'd be freaking out that he's "peaked to early".

Some people, you just can't un-freak.

2. You say that like its a good thing
With McCain making gaffe after gaffe, his poll ratings should resemble a very dangerous ski slope. Forgive me if "no significant shift in the polls for weeks" makes me a little nervous. I fear another stolen election, with these polls providing the cover.

3. I don't understand why folks bother with that crap when phrigndumass has a much
better more accurate and no bias report every morning that combines all of the state polls.

If your going to waste your time reading it you should atleast read the only part of the article that actually means anything - projection on electoral vote. Even Rasmussen says that the national poll is basically screwed and that Obama is winning in the states even though he shades it low by quite a bit:

The Rasmussen Reports Balance of Power Calculator currently shows now Obama leading in states with 210 Electoral College votes while McCain leads in states with 165 votes. When leaners are included, it’s Obama 273, McCain 227. Rasmussen Markets data gives Obama a 60.0 % chance of winning the White House.
