4. GOOD! I'm thrilled actually. Yes, I was worried abt Obama. That ad he released today
calmed me down. He ripped McCain a new one. Then put a picture of Bush/McCain side by side to boot. Would not be surprised if he went up a bit once people see it and are reminded of what type of person McCain is (not all that maverick bs).

7. That's pretty much where I am.
I did NOT like how he handled last week, but the release of this ad shows me that he wants to play offense. Makes me hopeful. :P

8. This is yet more proof that Obama's floor is 44-45%
but McCain's ceiling is around 44%. When was the last time you saw him go over that mark in the tracking polls?

5. Um, he was tied up just Saturday
and daily tracking polls are meaningless. they only serve to support the media meme of it being a "tight race".

18. Hence the body of my post
lest people get too carried away that he leads by three in the poll.

About the only trend worth noting is McCain never breaks 45% in any daily tracking poll.

25. And, Chuck Todd is right about the pattern of the Gallup Daily.
Obama always has a bit of a lead early in the week; by the end of the week, the poll tightens. Week, after week, after week.

Live by the Daily Gallup, Die by the Daily Gallup!!

22. OK, Here's my impression of doomday alarmist at the beach...
Not huge surf, mind you, just gentle waves lapping at the sand.

Ripple comes in...."OH NOES....It's a tidal wave"...

Ripple goes out...silence....

Ripple comes in...."OH NOES....We're all gonna die"...

Then, imagine them at a beach with BIG waves!

These people must be hell to live with...

13. Good to see.
But, remember that he was up 9 in Gallup.

Let's just make sure to not let McCain get away with that kind of stuff again.

17. Will you please look at the trend lines on these polls? Please?
They're pretty consistent. Obama leads by a small margin, then they tie and then Obama leads and then they tie.

Obama got a big bump from the European trip and then the poll quickly returned to the SAME pattern.

I'm not saying that the McCain ad aren't worth worrying about. Not at all.

But I'm also asking for some longer range perspective.

This race hasn't changed very much so far.

That's where Obama was before, and probably most accurate right now. The big bounces and the ties for now can't be trusted.

20. Early days.
Wait until after the conventions, then we'll see where everything really stands. A lot of fence-sitters will make up their minds after the two acceptance speeches are given.
