McLame not afraid to attack Barack, the best counter to this is
Clark as VP.

Many wrote Clark off due the mini controversy surrounding his questioning of McCain's military credentials, but this is exactly why Clark should be Obama's attack dog.

The moment Clark is announced the focus will shift from McCain's attacks on Obama to Clark's temerity in questioning Mclame's foreign policy credentials. This ongoing narrative will force McCain to defend turf that he already assumes he has the advantage on instead of spending resources attacking Obama he will be spending time defending himself. Also IMO any substantive comparison of Clark vs. MCCain on foreign policy/military issues results in a distinct adavantage for the Democratic ticket or at least a stalemate.

The best part about this is that Clark really wouldn't have to go out on a limb to draw attention to this disparity since the media would be raising this issue with him ad nauseum due to the earlier controversy. All Clark would have to do is sit back and gently remind folks that McCain is a "hero" for being a prisoner while Clark is a "hero" and a 4 star General.

I hope Barack goes this route as it would also serve to bring in some of the Hillary supporters who remain aloof and appeal to independents.

Thoughts?

1. I don't think WE wrote Clark off,
I'm afraid Obama did. I'd love to see Clark as VP.

3. Sorry, I have to disagree.
I'm not sure Clark was on "the list" beforehand but after the dust-up over McLame's military experience, he is effectively persona non grata. The first rule in picking a VP is "do no harm." For better or worse, selecting Wes would be too risky. Even Kerry dissed Wes today.

4. Agree...the McCain camp thinks they're almost untouchable on military/foreign policy
because of the perception of experience due to McCain's service and POW status.

It'd be cool to find out the 'rejection' of Clark by Obama was a smokescreen to make everyone think he was off the table as a VP option...

5. It wouldn't surprise me at all if Clarke was pulled from the stage so
he would fall away from the public eye, the idea being that Obama dumped him at the first sign of trouble.

He is out of sight, and as such, out of mind as a running mate.

I believe this might be on purpose.

Otherwise, why isn't Clarke out on the talk shows hammering McCain, as he has nothing to lose, Right?

Unless he DOES have something to lose.....

I think the next month is going to be very interesting indeed.
