Obama Needs Big Rallies and the Myth of Indy's
Edited on Sun Aug-03-08 08:07 PM by kurtboss

People are missing the insulting nature of these ads. They are truly meant to make Obama supporters look clueless and stupid--that is the REAL intent. Why? He wants to scare independents away.

If you're a fence leaner you're likely to go with the group. The great myth of politics is that independents are courageous free-thinkers, it is the opposite. They see how politics has been degraded in our culture, they don't care enough to associate with one party other because they don't want to be seen in a bad light. So they say they're independents. These are true followers and why Obama is almost certain to win this election.

Most of the independents couldn't tell you where Obama got that crowd of 200,000, McCain just wants Obama not to use the imagery. The Indy's will be naturally drawn to such a spectacle. Their attempt with ads like "The One" and "Britney/Paris" are to mock Obama supporters, so the Indy's will be afraid to go that way. McCain looks to be safe. So how to fight?

Instead of the conventional wisdom of small town-halls, Obama needs to do more big rallies and incorporate those in his ads. He also has to now mock McCain support. They have to be insulting ads. Showing fat people, old people, nose-pickers...seriously. Make his supporters look REALLY bad. Show them in the worst light. Of course, Obama can't really don this directly. He'll need other groups to do it.

1. We can't afford to lose the fat old nose-picker vote! Go after the
droolers, if we lose them they are just likely to vote for Obama by mistake thinking they are voting for McCain. I also have no problem with giving McCain the seriously flatulent vote because of their negative effect on attendance. But fat old nose-pickers are a key demographic in swing states.

Obama should have his campaign events in football stadiums or ballparks whenever possible. McCain should have his in places with lots of mirrors.

2. I think he did the town halls this summer and the big trip so as not to take
to much away from the convention.. After the convention, I think we will see more rally's.. Technically, the convention is to rally the troops and send a message as a United Democratic Force... He's doing things a bit smaller, personal, and low key before the Olympics (which will be a 2 week distraction).. and that will be followed up with the convention..
