Had my first encounter with a Republican canvasser yesterday. FUN !
Yesterday as I was leaving my house for a weekend trip, I was stopped in the driveway by an R canvasser doing voter ID. Here is exactly what I said to him: "No offense to you personally, but
I wouldn't vote for a Republican for a million dollars. You guys are going to get pounded out of sight in November. The Republican party sucks !" I think he got the message, and it is exactly what I would recommend you all to say to these poor suckers when they darken your doorsteps. (If I'd had time I would have added, "And Bush and Cheney should be stripped, have their penises tied together, and then horsewhipped in public. And DittoIdiotLimbaugh, Hannity, and the rest of that ilk should be lined up one behind the other while nude, dropped to their knees, and forced at gunpoint to buttfuck each other all in one big mule train. Do you get the hint now about what I think of the GOP?")

16. We had a visit from an Obama canvasser back before the primaries.
This was right after my husband had put up giant, billboard-sized RON PAUL signs all over our house and yard. (Later on I put up my own Obama signs as well.) We live on top of a hill and visitors have to climb nearly 50 steps from street level to get to our front door. Bless his heart, the Obama guy braved the climb AND the Republican signs. He was pleasantly surprised to hear that I was an Obama supporter and that my husband, who supported Ron Paul in spirit, was starting to lean in Obama's direction. The canvasser was a nice young guy. I felt bad for him because we were the first house he had visited and very likely we would end up being the only people in my neighborhood (we live in W.Va.) who wouldn't slam the door in his face. Canvassers are brave souls. I salute them!

3. He just said, "Ok thanks, bye." He also noted my sentiments on his clipboard.
So hopefully once they enter me in the database that's the last I'll see of them. Piss on 'em ! I'm done with this "high road" crap ! We need to slam these bastards !

4. I would be nicer than that
Since I have done so much canvassing myself, I have some degree of sympathy. I would just say that I am a hardcore Obama supporter but thanks for stopping by. Of course, I would never get canvassers or phone bankers, because I'm a cell-phone-only voter living in a controlled-access high rise. Good thing I remember to vote on my own, because I am completely unreachable.

8. I've canvassed myself BIGTIME. It requires thick skin. Gotta expect it. And,
you'll note I did say it was not personal. But they need to hear the sentiments and have some wind knocked out of their sails. If EVERYONE "went negative" on their front line troops, it would add that much more to their demoralization as they slink back to their field offices. Gotta think big picture. Politics is tough business, and it should be.

14. I agree. I wouldn't be rude to them (unless they were rude to me).
Fortunately I've never encountered any GOP canvassers, but if I had, I would simply tell them that I am 100 percent behind Obama and they are wasting their time with me.

5. Great response.
The GOP banana shuffle idea is too funny.

I had a canvasser call once a few years ago, but foolishly I just hung up. I should have used the opportunity to unload on him. Next time will be different...........

6. How threatening does the law allow you to be to someone unwanted on your own property?
What if you yell, "I saw you trying to break into my window!"

15. LOL! I got a pre-recorded poll once that started out like this:
Edited on Mon Aug-04-08 12:10 AM by Blondiegrrl
"Would you say you are pro-life? Please answer yes or no."

(I hung up.)

Talk about a push poll! Yes, I am pro-life. I'm also pro-choice. I'm "pro" children getting the assistance they need from their parents, the community, and the government to grow up healthy and happy. I'm also "pro" women having power to make medical decisions concerning their own bodies.

Fundie asses.
