Kathy Hilton lashes out at McCain ad calling it a 'WASTE'
Edited on Sun Aug-03-08 02:06 PM by rndmprsn
looks like some of John W McSame's supporters are smarter than his campaign...

http://www.nydailynews.com/news/politics/2008/08/03/2008-08-03_kathy_hilton_lashes_out_at_mccain_ad_cal.html

Kathy Hilton is the latest member of the Hilton clan to come out swinging against presidential hopeful John McCain.

"I've been asked again and again for my response to the now infamous McCain celebrity ad. I actually have three responses," Hilton, 49, told the Huffington Post.

"It is a complete waste of the money John McCain's contributors have donated to his campaign," she said. "It is a complete waste of the country's time and attention at the very moment when millions of people are losing their homes and their jobs. And it is a completely frivolous way to choose the next President of the United States."...

...Paris showed her own disdain for the ad on Thursday in a frosty statement released by her publicist: "Miss Hilton was neither asked, nor did she give permission, for the use of her likeness in the ad, and has no further comment."

1. The same woman who appeared on Oprah declaring her
daughters were 'good girls' immediately prior to the Paris sex tape release. :eyes:

Yeah, she's credible. She also donated the max to McCain.

A big money, big name McCain contributor is publicly pissed off at him -- what's not to like? McCain is getting backlash for his stupid ad from his own supporters -- where's the downside?

20. What you said. Recc'd
for being funny, if nothing else.

Although actually I do have sympathy for the Hiltons in this case - everyone is entitled to certain courtesies and privacy. McCain using Paris in the ad without her permission is no better than papparazzi snapping a pic and having it in the Enquirer. And it's not Paris' fault she was born rich and raised pampered - we don't get to choose our parents.

not because it is tasteless, beyond the pale or whatever

25. I doubt she is going to contribute to Obama...
she and her bank account want McCain to win.
He certainly hurts his chances of doing so by spending his contributors $$$ on such frivolous and ineffective ads
She cares more about her $$$$$$$$$$ than her daughter

24. They Buried LA City Attorney Rocky Delgadillo for Prosecuting Paris
I was wondering whether they would give McCain a free ride, which is why I thought that it might have been the Hilton's idea. Normally, you don't piss off the Hiltons claim without good reason.

38. I really don't care for anyone who is famous just for being rich
Or worse yet, famous because their grandparents were rich. George Bush would also fall in that category, though to be absolutely fair about it, the Hilton grandparents didn't fund Hitler, as far as I know.

The uselessness of the Hilton sisters has been eclipsed by the uselessness of the Kardashian bunch though. They have done even LESS worthy of recognition.

42. Why should they be 'useful' to you or anyone else?
Who decides that? Perhaps they are very useful to their own family. It's not their fault they were born rich. It is Paris' fault for acting like a dork. Nicky on the other hand, has her own design business and stays out of the limelight. She bothers no one. Don't lump her with the publicity hound that is her sister.

13. That's totally beside the point. McCain has pissed off some rich supporters,
this is a BAD thing for McCain. Sympathy for the Hiltons has nothing to do with it.

It's really very simple, witnessing your opponent screw up royally is always a good reason for rejoicing.

I would be money on that. Criticizing him to the press about Paris isn't going to change one person's mind who was already planning to vote for McCain.

It's pointless to give this much credit.

26. I think this is one of the biggest stories of the McCain week
That the Hilton's would go public like this shows a fissure in
class support for the old geezer. What she wanted to say but couldn't was that he was a old shit who exploited her troubled daughter to score political points over his opponent. Instead she spoke about the poor 'millions' losing their jobs and homes! I love it: sounds like it was written by the O-Team.

We know McCain has issues with women - Chelsea Clinton, Mrs. McC**t, now trashing Repub offspring like Paris Hilton and Brittany. This ad hasn't helped his image - he's treated them like he was still a drunken sailor on shore leave.

Do you actually think the Hilton family will vote for him now?

Even a small embarrassment to the McCain campaign is better than nothing. Her bottom line motivation is irrelevant.

23. I Saw The Ad And Wondered Whether Rick Hilton Pimped His Daughter
I could not imagine that the McCain campaign was stupid enough to throw in Paris Hilton without knowledge that the Hilton clam are huged Republican contributors. Thus, I assumed that the Hiltons were partisan enough to pimp out their daughter and throw her under the bus in order to support the GOP. Afterall, if McCain is willing to sign the same political advisors who ran a racist South Carolina smear campaign against him and his daughter, is it really hard to imagine the Hiltons doing the same?

Hilton. I can't believe I just said that, but she and her husband donated $4,600 to McCain's campaign only to have their money used to smear their daughter in an nationally televised ad (nationally televised thanks to cable TV). Definitely a "dick move," as Jon Stewart said.

34. Except That He Happily Took The Hilton Clan's Money
It would have worked out better if the Hiltons were not die hard Republicans. Also, the Hiltons' sometimes have a vindictive streak. I think they will ultimately lick their wounds, and fall in line behind McCain, but they did ruin Rocky's career when he prosecuted Paris Hilton.
