the video is on the page.

Anyone else find irony is the song title Raisin McCain (he's so old and shriveled he's like a raisin)?

Thanks for DU'er Global Village for the link :hi:

16. Really.
Free country concert, even, and it draws a "nearly 500 person crowd" ?!?

I guess the venue wasn't appropriate for McCain's other supporters to have their nursing home beds and wheelchairs accommodated. Maybe they'll try harder to get to a McCain event that features a swing orchestra.

:silly:

"Now we’ve got a real man with an American plan"
Are we sure about this? I think there's a website or two out there that think he has a Vietnamese plan for us, but that is another story.

"Play that American guitar, son"
Really? I guess he doesn't have one of those horrible furrin gee-tars.

I guess concerts with big "stars" don't really work as well for McCain. No 200,000 people for him. So sad.

Looks pretty sparse.

19. Well there were other artists involved, but this concert had 6000 in attendence:
Close to 6,000 fans turned out to see Twisted Sister, Tesla, Winger, Staind’s Aaron Lewis, Boston’s Tom Scholz and country artists including John Rich, Gretchen Wilson, Dierks Bentley and Kelly Pickler - not nearly enough to fill Providence’s Dunkin’ Donuts Center.

21. I must note that the concert you're talking about was NOT a McCain event.
Edited on Sun Aug-03-08 03:08 PM by americanstranger
That was a fund raiser for the Station Family Fund, with whom I've worked in the past.

http://stationfamilyfund.org

I know it's tempting to deride that show in order to dog John Rich - but please note that the show was organized by Tesla's drummer Troy Lucketta and his charitable foundation (Tesla = very liberal band from the SF area), all acts (including the aforementioned John Rich and the other country stars he himself persuaded to participate) played for nothing and even picked up their own travel and hotel expenses, and Twisted Sister worked their asses off to promote the show and bring in VH1 to tape it for broadcast.

And John Rich was also nice enough to buy up all empty seats in the Dunkin' Donuts Center that night and donate the money to the SFF. About 15 large, out of his own pocket.

And at the risk of getting flamed, the concert segment featuring Rich, Bentley and Wilson was one of the best of the whole show.

Please. Let's remember that people are capable of doing good things, even if they happen to be on the wrong side of this presidential contest. A lot of work went into producing that show (yes, even by the dreaded John Rich), and the money went to an extremely worthy cause.

other than McCain, he draws a larger audience!
