1. He's a Rovian asshole, is what he is, and a complete fraud.

He has sold his soul - and way before the 2000 primaries. He is no friggin' "maverick." I learned to despise the man this past week. Any semblance of respect went out the window. See Bob Herbert's column posted elsewhere here today. Nails the dickwad precisely.

2. Yes -- McCain doesn't fare too well against Bob Herbert.

Bob Herbert gets it done. Whenever I'm talking with someone who blasts the New York TIMES I suggest that it prints Bob Herbert and Frank Rich with some regularity and that both those guys are worth the attention of an informed voter.

McCain really seems to be in over his head. The Obama ground game is said to be a sharp operation. It's probably seeping thru to McCain that his own staff is not in their league and that unless he smears his opponent, election night is going to be a sea of blue on the tv screens.

warmly by world leaders, knows how to draw a crowd to hear what he has to say, knows how to make a three pointer, and looks damned good in a suit....
