McCain condescension a sign of latent racism.
the talking heads on the tubes are starting to bring up Mcgrumpy's continuously condescending tone to wards Barack.

There is the statement about McCain walking Obama through Iraq to "educate" him.

And just look at the overall tone of these recent attack ads.

There is a deep loathing in McCain to wards Obama as though it is an insult to even be forced to compete with him.

The whole "ready to lead?" thing. Not that he's wrong on this or that crucial issue but he's not ready to lead at all.

It's hard for me to talk about racism and the different forms it takes because I know there have been countless people hurt deeply by their first hand experiences of racism who will probably read this (I apologize in advance if some of this subject matter strikes a painful cord), but let's talk about some of the fundamental ideals that have underlaid racism especially when aimed at our Black brothers and sisters: the idea of genetic or mental inferiority. (uggg!)

Racists like to call Black men "boys," implying mental inferiority. Go to any shithole racist area of the country and this idea will be found: that Black people just aren't smart enough to hold positions of leadership or handle any job that requires a certain level of intellectual achievement. They must be protected and patronized like children. etc. (my blood boils too when I think about it, please forgive me again for bringing it up, but.....) I can't help but hear a bit of that "boy" mentality in tone of McCain's voice when talking about Obama (You can here it in a lot of the people on his campaign too). If the talking heads are already noticing the condescending tone -is it that much of a leap for them to start wondering aloud: "Is there some latent racism in McCain's condescension to wards Obama?" He is pretty old, and a lot of old people are pretty fucking racist.

though many would argue that it doesn't help Obama to be talking about race -is it not somewhat inevitable and would it not be helpful for us here in Blogs to start buzzing about this idea? -that there seems to be a latent sort of racism in the way the McCain talks down to Obama? You know the talking heads love to go on and on about race because it's so juicy and controversial and fills the seats, thus if we buzz it up enough, at some point a columnist somewhere will touch on the idea and all those MSM freaks will latch onto it and create that dreaded storyline that everyone parrots and becomes the self-fulfilling prophecy. Your thoughts?

1. You'll never prove that, McCain would have to say or do something that is explicitly racist

11. Like spend the majority of his free time sliming MLK & doing everything in his power he could t0
prevent the MLK holiday? Stuff like that?

Or opposing EVERY PIECE OF CIVIL RIGHTS LEGISLATION, INCLUDING THE REAUTHORIZATION OF THE EXISTING CIVIL RIGHTS LAWS? Stuff like that?

and you STILL want "some" proof?!?!?

so after we drop a truck load of his shit on your doorstep to prove what a RACIST he is, you'd still say "is that all you have?"

2. First rec from me. McThuselah condecends and diminishes him
Edited on Fri Aug-01-08 10:00 PM by wienerdoggie
every time he mentions him at town hall meetings. He says, "I respect and admire Obama's CAMPAIGN" or "I respect and admire Obama for WINNING HIS PARTY'S NOMINATION". As if he isn't a Senate colleague. He's just a fucking patronizing shitbag, all the way around.

3. McCain def does not have a sparkling record on civil rights.
But I also think that he's a world class asshole in general, he seems to have a lot of contempt to go around.

10. The MLK issue in Arizona is a PERFECT "flip-flop" opportunity for the surrogates
to use.

His grudging, eventual support for it after he VOCIFEROUSLY opposed it was based on one thing and one thing only--it was hurting Arizona's vital tourism industry VERY, very badly. I can't stress how major it was--it really stung.

Not only am I a longtime AZ resident, I was in the tourism industry at the time and I guarantee this is why AZ finally passed it. It nearly caused a meltdown and the powerful tourism lobby was livid over the cancellations of dozens of huge conventions as well as recreational cancellations.

I processed cancellations over the phone and I can state unequivocally state that many cancellations occurred for this reason alone.

6. I agree with you 100%
McCain grew up in a white society. His father was an Admiral and McCain always was exposed to privileged circles. When he went to Annapolis it was an institution for white men. The only blacks that McCain would have been exposed to would have been those in service jobs like waiters, janitors, and laborers. When he moved to Arizona with his second wife he became part of an insulated, white, and republican circle. Phoenix is a strange place. I don't think the general public understands the racism that exists in Arizona and in Phoenix in particular. During The Civil War, the Arizona Territory was part of the Confederacy and there are elements of racism in Arizona that are as deep as those one would find in the south. This has been John McCain's world. This is the experience that has shaped his world view. He looks at Barack Obama and he doesn't see a man who was born into the world with every odd against him. He doesn't see a man who went to Columbia and then Harvard Law School and while there established himself as an intellectual. McCain's mind is too mediocre to see that. McCain graduated fifth from the bottom of his class in a class of over 800. None of that matters to McCain. His contempt for Obama is apparently so deep it can only come from one place. Everyone has been too polite to say what it is.

7. I've witnessed more Presidential elections than I'd like to admit.
I've never seen such crude, stupid and low class behavior as I have from McCain. He was a war hero.
Now is lower than dirt. How the mighty have fallen.

8. Yes, but why dignify it with thoughtful analysis????

don't think, personally, they'd belittle a white guy like this, but who knows. All I know is McCain would love to make this about race. So let's not. This is truly moronic, insubstantial CRAP. No facts to even respond to. Just insults. Let other people recognize it for racism, but no need to give McCain that debate.

And I'm laughing here. I never would have imagined that I would say, don't give him the dignity of pointing out the racism. Imagine that??? But that is how fucking dumb and childish these ads are. Wow. Sometimes you surprise yourself, y'know? {/p}
