They've GOT to do SOMETHING and SOON...
Is this how it works every time...that we nominate someone and set them up to be destroyed by the slime-machine and we just sit there like assholes AGAIN? If they just allow this to happen...I'm out...out of the process, out of involvement, out of caring. If THIS is how we're going to lose, then THAT'S THAT, I'M DONE...FOR GOOD. If they want to come and take me away and put me in a fenced-in camp in Nebraska somewhere, that's ifne...I'd rather be interred somewhere and isolated than have to listen to this and watch this unfold before my eyes. And don't tell me he's keeping his powder dry. Fuck that...if they don't 'fire' soon, he's gonna be a cooked goose.

SHIT! OK, I worked for the McGovern Campaign and understood what was going to happen there from the beginning. Mondale, threw it away at the debate, Dukakis wasn't going anywhere fast, but for crying out loud, we watched them destroy Gore and Kerry. If THEY THINK that this crap is going to just SLIDE off Obama, they're NUTS.

Or,,,maliciously destructive of our Party, aided and abetted by our Party.

Moving to Idaho if this happens...swear to God..well, maybe not quite,...but CLOSE!

4. Yes, RELAX!
We've got a long way to go, and a few debates to get through, where Obama will shine.

McGrumpy is bound to screw up as he does early and often. And the m$m isn't swallowing his performance as readily as they once did.

5. Sorry you're so tense...but you are right, unfortunately.
If McCain keeps this shit up we need to do the same thing back but very subtley. Here is my ad:

So McCain is making fun of Obama's "Celebrity Status"? The fact that he inspires, the fact that the world and many Americans like him. That's mature...real mature.

You cannot win an argument, so it's better not to engage in one and buy into what McCain wants to talk about... He needs to hit back by changing the subject and knocking McCain out on something that HE wants to talk about.

Like maybe the fact that McCain is Bush.

30. Nance had a great line in another thread:
It’s said that you have to fight fire with fire. But when is the last time the firefighters in your neck of the woods showed up at a burning building with flame-throwers and gasoline? Obama has chosen to fight fire with water – and it works.

32. No, you're mistaken...
water controls the blaze, allows that which is being destroyed to be destroyed and stops it from spreading. If a guy tries to light your house on fire with a match, you hit him from 30 feet with a flame-thrower or a bazooka. Then HE's the one with the problem.

and the times are different.
Hillary didn't get it and neither does McCain. They were going by the old school rules, the ones that worked for far too long.

Not This Time.

7. High road for a bit longer
Obama needs to keep to the high road for just a few more weeks, allowing the media to continue defining McCain's campaign through his stupid ads and sillier statements.

I have a feeling that the guns he's withholding are being reserved for the bastards at Freedom's Watch like Ari Fleischer (FW just hired Rove as a consultant, and I refuse to dignify with a hyperlink), who are under no fundraising ceilings like the candidates.

9. Jeebus, yo, take a deep breath and quit with the extreme panic already.
Obama and his team know what the hell they're doing, that's how they got here. Give them some space and let them do their thing.

In the meanwhile, take a deep breath, run around the block a few times, knock back a couple of mojitos if that'll help, but please calm down before you have yourself a stroke or something. Oy.

10. Nothing means much until the debates begin...

Sure, you don't want to get *way* behind in the polls early on... But the campaign will be won or lost only after the debating season begins. The content of the debates, the campaign moves that surround them, and the world events that occur during that period will shape the battle and dictate the ground upon which the election is determined.

We're just listening to the warm-up band now. I've been to a number of great concerts with warm-up bands that totally sucked.

13. If you're so concerned about our prospects, do something about it.
Tired of the viral e-mails about Barack? Write one about McCain and mail it to everyone in your address book (I would suggest the Forrester Fire; who cares if it isn’t true). If you’re upset about McCain’s Anti-Christ ad, make a big stink about how it insults your religion and get others to back you up (It doesn’t matter if you’re a Christian or not). If you’re upset that we don’t have any 527s, do an online fundraiser for some poor, under funded 527 group. Don’t just complain. DO SOMETHING.

21. Obama can't go negative.
Doing that is old politics. That's the risk you take when you campaign as the change candidate.

Going negative would make him a hypocrite.

But he can defend himself without going negative. He could attack McLame's record, which is only pointing out facts. He could also send some attack dogs out speaking against McCain. People like Biden, Dodd, the Clintons, etc....

ummmm it's 44-44

and team Obama's response to a week of attacks was to look weak by shifting positions on energy-- a position that will most likely now cost him Florida where he was gaining traction because of McCain's position.

listen, Obama brought down the king and queen of the democratic party that likes to play by republican rules. he was a nobody coming out of nowhere slaying that dragon.

That's what I'm waiting for...maybe you'll have it at the debates - maybe you won't. Wait for the debates? Giuliani waited for Florida. Lotta good it did him.

as it has been for a couple elections now, and probably more elections than we want to know.

but when Obama says: Not This Time.
Asked me this a few months ago and I would have guffawed.
