The Tipping Point...
For everyone here in a panic, realize that there will soon be a tipping point.

The first time McCain seriously took the low road this week, people were shocked he would stoop. The media was all over it. The second time, knowing that it would lack the shock of being the initial hit, they included Paris and Britney to generate more buzz. The media followed. The third time, now they're invoking God, hoping it keeps the media hungry.

But there will be a tipping point. If this barrage keeps up, the media is going to start asking why McCain is so obsessed with Obama. It could take awhile, but with each new attack, the perspective slowly switches from "oooh" to "Another one? Big surprise? What are we up to now? 35?"

And each time McCain hobbles feebly further into Karl Rove's sewage, oddly enough people get fed up. People get fed up enough to donate money to Obama. Did you read yesterday's numbers? 33,000+ brand new donors to the Obama campaign yesterday alone.

National tracking polls may go down. You can be fearful and freak out of over that if you want. But with each attack, Obama's coffers fill up. Someone smarter than I pointed out here that this is Democracy. In. Action. If the media wants to continue to push McCain as the "maverick", while McCain continues to disgrace himself and insult Americans, that's fine. Ordinary citizens are donating money to Obama in response to McCain's ads.

When the media and McCain realize that McCain's attacks are in essence a giant cash register for Obama, you'll see what happens to the narrative, and the attacks, then.

It's going to be fun to watch.

I think the reason you don't see Obama's camp going into full out reactionary mode is that they are enjoying the money McCain's ads send their way. Everyday Americans are disgusted to see Paris and Britney on McCain's perverse mind more than their pocketbooks and our economic security. And they are voting - with their wallets.

Thanks McCain. Oooh another attack? Cha-ching!

1. Good points!
33,000 new donors :bounce:

So much for McLame's rhetoric that Obama has fans, not voters :woohoo:

5. Not to mention the upcoming convention ...
75K cheering fans ... Take THAT, Bomb Bomb ...
Ain't no way that old man can compete with that
kind of excitement.

The more Bomb Bomb McLame attacks, the more I
feel like Obama needs Joe Biden as his VP. Kerry
did a GREAT job on Gregory's show yesterday
beating up Jon Kyl but Obama needs a REAL fighter
like Biden to be the "bad cop" while Barack
floats above the sewage ...

8. the members of the pundit class showed a chink in its "we love McCain" armor this week too
Andrea Mitchell called him a liar (or at least his ad about the photo op with the troops) on TV not once but several times.

Now Joe Klein called McCain SCUM today and said he is not honorable. Yowza.

The Village didn't like it when McCain said they were Obama's chumps, just following an empty suit, being used for photo ops with injured troops and they are pushing back.

At least a few are.

I also think there is a sea change in some media outlets re: black pundits. It's tougher to trash Obama and give McCain a pass with a black pundit (or two) sitting there ready to call you on your shit. IMHO.

Dan Abrams has been great this week, and last. Mathews was great last week. Olbermann is always great. (Hope they report on the 100,000 donations Obama got JUST YESTERDAY).

David Gregory is still remarkably unfair but last night he had 3 leftie pundits on with 1 rightie pundit which, given the fact the rightie always monopolizes the conversation by screaming right wing talking points all the time, seems fair.

ABC and AP are lost causes, like Fox.
