Could McCain's Britney/Hilton Ad Be Considered Misogynist? Should Dems Label It As Such?
Edited on Fri Aug-01-08 04:21 PM by cryingshame
Shouldn't Democrats ask why is McCain dragging two women into this?

And using THEM as political footballs?

Aren't the Republicans trying to suggest Hillary supporters go for McCain?

Seems like this is a prime opportunity to bring misogyny into the picture.

And just as McCain is willing to abuse two women for his own selfish political gain, he ALSO used American troops in Germany.

1. Keep in Mind: McCain is trying to show Dems/Obama have no sense of humor!
Watch this because a McCain voter told me as much. They want to show Obama is politically correct and uptight.

3. But poking fun using two women as objects? Isn't that rather lacking in gallantry?

But I don't know how many would agree with us.

4. Exploited little bimbos
And they don't even know it.

I doubt either of them even can fathom the battle for the women's rights they are denigrating by allowing this.

They are the kind of women that Republican men all wish we were like. They have some serious round heels when it comes to standing up for the dignity of women.

Ptooie.

6. No, misogynists are his base.
Some of us might be convinced by the claim but I don't see how it would change anyone's mind.

9. Gah! This isn't complicated. It's an ad by simple people.
They're trying to make a case that Obama is vapid and has no substance, and that he's a big celebrity. Who else should they have used? Michael Jackson? His celebrity has faded and he's a child molester. Brad and Angelina? Oprah? Well, they actually aren't all that vapid. They know far more about world affairs than Brittany and Paris. If anyone can come up with two examples of male celebrities who get as much media exposure as those two and have as little substance, then please post them. The ad isn't racist or sexist; it's just an idiotic ad that makes McCain and his camp look as ditzy as the blond celebs he's dissing!

10. IF McCain had belittled and debased Paris and Britney, sure, but...
they did that all by themselves.

Their inclusion had only to do with their talentless notoriety (and possibly the black man/blonde girl effect, which I don't personally see here).

12. Alright, I'll concede those points.
She's fairly talented and is definitely suffering, but both are famous beyond reason because of the press they get.
