Research 2000 North Carolina poll: McCain 47% (down 3) Obama 43% (up 2)

Let's accentuate the positive around here for a change. It's been a long time since a Democratic presidential candidate was doing this well in North Carolina (or VA,CO,IN,AZ,AK,etc)Even in 2004 when Edwards was on the ticket it was never this close. Research 2000 has Obama closing in (other polls show it close in NC as well) and this poll doesn't include Bob Barr. Also, this poll only includes 22% African-American respondents and in 2004 turnout among black voters in NC was 26%--I highly doubt black turnout will be down! So if you bring that up to a realistic voting percentage my guess is that it's tied in NC.
