2. He's doing fine for July into August.
Soon, he will have to hit mcWither hard, and I am sure he will. Right now, Obama isn't really threatened by him. The National polls are not indicative of the Electoral College map or how the race will play out.

I think the Dem Leaders should being doing a helluva lot more working over mcWither. They are the ones who should be hitting him hard NOW. Let Obama maintain his message and his platform, for now.

McWither's attacks are getting petty, cheap and old.

4. No, he isn't. He can't afford to allow McCain to get close. See-Election Fraud/Voter Purge

McCain's attacks are having the desired effect.

All your protestations to the contrary.

Obama's campaign has failed to take the offense, to control the debate, to expose the Mediawhores' spouting RNC party line.

They are apparently inept at producing ads that demand attention.

They allowed the small bounce Obama got from being overseas to dissipate.

3. Too restrained
and now he's being forced to play defense.

If anything 2000,2002, and 2004 taught us is that the GOP will use anything, no matter how outrageous to win. We got lucky in 2006 since the GOP had those scandals that sunk them late in the campaign.

We can't wait for another lucky break. I don't think we have to go negative like McCain is though I do think Obama needs to be more agressive.

For example, instead of being defensive about offshore oil drilling how about playing offense? How about asking outright over and over again why the oil companies aren't drilling on their existing leases instead of doing nothing and raking in the profits. Make them the obstructionists, not the Democrats.

Instead of playing defense on McCain's "losing the war" strategy, ask why McCain won't accept victory. Praise the troops, the Iraqis and claim that we have won. In the grand scheme of things we have 'won." It won't get any better than this. It's all about framing the debate. Obama should excell at it.

5. I'd like to see him put forward
a strong response to the GOP on energy, and especially counter this idea that drilling will solve the energy problem. he needs to be as forceful with this issue as he was with Clinton's gas tax holiday nonsense in NC and IN.
