Obama did not say McCain IS PLAYING the race card. He said "they" WILL TRY to SCARE people
with his funny name, color (not looking like other presidents on currency), etc. But even Roland Martin from CNN who almost always sticks up for Obama, said Obama was wrong for accusing McCain and Bush by name for doing this. But he DIDN'T!

4. I saw one clip where he did say "George Bush, John McCain...They"
Edited on Thu Jul-31-08 09:34 PM by ErinBerin84
but I don't really think it was "crossing the line" (though it may have been a tactical mistake...if that makes sense). David Gergen was more sympathetic than Roland and said that race IS underlying in some of the RNC smears, and that it is the elephant in the room. Oh yeah, and it would be nice for some of them to reference that there WAS a McCain web ad that put Obama's face on a dollar bill, just for some fucking context.

6. Yeah, but he said they WILL try-he didn't accuse them of doing anything so FAR...

If the GOP could do their convention in Blackface they would. Of course they will play the race card. They play it on white candidates what the hell would stop them from doing it on a black candidate.
