Obama: "You haven't heard a positive thing out of that campaign in a month"
From CNN http://www.cnn.com/2008/POLITICS/07/31/campaign.wrap/index.html

It's nice to finally see him hitting back and he's dead on as well. McCain has nothing to offer other than negativity about Obama. McCain has no platform, policy or new ideas just negative ads.

1. Good--he needs to keep pointing out that they got NUTHIN, and then

make some attack ads--or have some shadowy groups do them. He needs to define McSausage as an ancient, drooling, angry, confused, mentally dim, hostile Bush twin. In other words, nothing like the Happy Warrior McMaverick narrative we'd been fed for so long.

11. Let 527's do the dirty work. McCain's mistake is making the attacks HIMSELF>
Very bad move.

2. Saw his response last night.
Something along the lines of, "he has nothing positive to highlight about his record, so he has to go negative on me."

His demeanor was superb, imho, as well.

6. I agree re: demeanor
Eventually people will see his good humor and cool in his response to McCain, who, on the other hand, will continue to give his tight-lipped, grumpy old veteran pronouncements. McCain will be shown not to be able to handle the heat.

3. they can't let any ad go by... he needs to fire back right away
(although I heard that not many people saw the "elitism"/troops" ad) Just the media analyzing the ads since no one is able to talk about actual issues anymore... :eyes:

5. Nah. He's on it.
Think of the Wright flap - that's the template.

1. The Repukes go nuts, thinking they've got an issue to kick his ass with.
2. Obama camp maintains radio silence, letting the pundits yap and the Repukes yammer until they put themselves in a position they can't backtrack from.
3. He lets the public get familiar enough with the issue so that there will be no misunderstanding him or wondering what he's talking about when he does respond.
4. At the right time, he drops the hammer. And wins the argument.

Wright-Gate. Bitter-Gate. And now, Britney-Gate. He's won those arguments by not responding right away.

We're used to responses occurring in blog-speed. But while O is very aware of what happens in the blogosphere, he plays his responses in the time frame of dead-tree media and public perception.

We can't be impatient waiting for him to respond. To paraphrase a wise old man that I knew when I was a kid - 'He may not respond when you want him to, but he'll always respond just in time.'

They know what they're doing. Every time one of these non-troversies pops up, I see people freak out because he doesn't fly off the handle like we would. that's why he's gonna be president and we're not. :D

Kerry - it made me so angry that they just sat on that stuff. I'm not saying he should fly off the handle, just make sure that you respond.

Obama seems more savvy and canny that way, good points!
