A few things are dawning on me...one about Democrats in general, one about the public and media...
I am starting to seriously doubt that any Democratic presidential candidate - or, perhaps more specifically, the campaign mechanics put together to run the campaign - has the guts, aggressiveness, nerve, reaction time, or smarts to put together a successful campaign during these bizarro times. Obama is a superb candidate, and should be mopping the floor with McBush - a deadly combination of a hapless candidate who is tied to a hapless incumbent in every way. Yet, (and I am NOT a slave to the polls, don't worry), if you listen to or read about what's going on, this thing is impossibly close. If Obama can't slamdunk McBush in this election, than I will have to simply conclude that Democrats simply do not know how to play the current version of this game.

Second thing - and it is related to the first - we are also in a time when the majority of people are just walking brain dead, enabled by a walking brain dead media, spooning up the Republican talking points, juicing on the hate radio of Oxyrush or Insannity - and that we may just have to let things explode and implode to such a degree that the Democrats will be the only ones there with any creativity and ideas to pick up the pieces...if there are indeed any pieces to pick up.

Does anyone else just get the sense that we here are in the process of knocking our heads repeatedly against the wall, and no matter what it seems, it just may not be possible to escape this dark time?

6. This "taking the high road" bit has led to keeping
the last 2 elections close enough for the repukes to steal. I'm embarrased that we Democrats still seem to be bringing knives to the gunfight that is this election!

2. There are defintely times when I agree with you 100%..but I get so saddened by the thought that I

try to dismiss it and attempt to remain optimistic, and hope that there will be an awakening, and this horror story will have a happy ending.
If not, we are all doomed...that's all.

5. I try as well - I am nearly always an optimist...but this is really testing me.
I think what is worst to me is that nothing about this is logical, or makes sense. Any of us are more likely to end in jail for not paying a parking ticket than the current cast of criminals running the country into the ground, committing jail worthy act after act. makes no sense whatsoever and, as I've been asking for more than 7 years -

WHERE IS THE OUTRAGE?????

3. The Democrats have always had a "niceness" problem.
Because we are, for the most part, not nasty people - like the other side - we tiptoe around sometimes and are afraid to hurt anyone's feelings. Somehow we must overcome our "polite" DNA and turn into attack dogs.

7. Demanding McCain Apologize For Using The Troops In Germany As A Political Football Isn't "Nasty"
it didn't require any nastiness. It simply required assertiveness and the smarts to turn your opponents talkingpoints on their heads.

8. It's too early in the game
Just as in the primaries, people do not make up their minds until the election is near upon them. I don't give much weight to the polls right now.

9. My reaction to what you are saying is that you are taking polls seriously . . .
and I think that people are simply tired of pushing these issues while the Bush/Cheney people

keep throwing new bombs off their pick up truck every time they drive by ---

There is every reason to suspect that ALL of our elections have been tampered with in some

way SINCE THE 1963 COUP ON OUR GOVERNMENT.

Large computer counters began to come in immediately thereafter - used by media.

And the individual voting machines have been with us longer than the 2000 election.

http://www.constitution.org/vote/votescam__.htm

Government with JFK was passing into the hands of liberals -- progressives --- who were

basically showing us that the Cold War was a farce -- and they were right.

It was merely about the MIIC and those feeding off of it ---

Meanwhile, we have a number of false systems we're working ---

patriarchy and its organized religion and their economic system -- Capitalism.

"Manifest Destiny" and "Man's Dominion Over Nature" are dangerous concepts which

polluted our planet and brought us Global Warming.

10. I know what you mean, but disagree
you do have some valid points, but frankly I see a few problems:

1 - the polls don't include cellphones, ie: younger voters, ie: Obama supporters

2 - the media's best interest is to keep the race tight, or even to pretend the race is tight. Better ratings.

3 - this is the one which worries me: we're being set up for another election theft. If they present this as close, even though most people I know and speak to, irl and online support Obama, then it's easier to steal.

12. Have you seen ANY strong Dem Challengers in the MSM on Cables supporting Obama?
It's all about Media Control. Why have our Dems not done anything about this? Because Repugs Controlled Congress and their hands were tied. According to Pelosi ...we have to wait until '08/12 and BEYOND before we can regain a majority to be able to do anything about what Busholini's have done on the tail of Clintons.

But...we all know our Dems could have done better. Why didn't they?
