“The Need for Congressional Action is Urgent”

Bush once again calls for Congress to lift the ban on offshore drilling in a statement following a morning meeting with his Cabinet.

“The time for action is now. This is a difficult period for millions of American families… the American people are rightly frustrated by the failure of Democratic leaders in Congress to enact this solution.”

Says the Congress shouldn’t leave for their August recess without moving forward on pending legislation on the issue in both the Senate and the House.

1. How about this instead, George:

Why don't you expose your Energy Policy for the abusive document that it is? Gas prices were $1.46/gallon when you took office. Now they're around $4.00/gallon. How can that be possible? That's a 274% increase in 7.5 years. Do we have that many more drivers on the road today?

Are that many more miles being driven worldwide today?

The figures I've seen don't indicate that to be the case. And since oil company profits have exploded under your Energy Policy, I believe you should expose it for all to see. That way we know what the big picture is.

If you want to drill offshore in America, you need to show us why that's necessary. If you can. (Of course, we know he cannot because it will expose this adminstration for what it truly is: a gang of crooks.)
