Even after he is sworn in he will not be afforded the respect that comes with the office. I look at how he is constantly being called arrogant, I look at Milbanks column, I look at the reaction to the overseas trip and I realize that there is a very large segment of the population and the media who will treat him like a second class president.

You look at how his patriotism is constantly questioned, you look at how different Rev. Wright was handled vs. Pastor Hagee etc. and you know he is going to be treated like shit.

Sure the press does fawn over him in ways that they have never ever fawned over other candidates but they are also more comfortable saying negative things about him that they would never ever say about other folks.

GOBAMA, I'm with you until the end. Ignore the haters but you and I both know you will see more hate than any candidate (and potentially any president) ever has.

5. That was true during the primaries. I will be true during the GE and into

his presidency if he wins. I have never seen anything like this but I can absolutely relate. He is held to much higher standards. McSame can get away with outrageous lies, mistatements and the mangling of the English language. Think about this: if Obama spoke the way Dumbya speaks...would this country tolerate that? White America would be outraged that we have an Ebonics-speaking president who can't string a coherent sentence together. (Note: nothing wrong with Ebonics, but there's a time, place and context for it.)

Here we have a man who worked his way up from nothing. He did everything White Society told him to do, including the Repuke mantra that emphasizes personal responsibility and individual achievement. He and his wife excelled in school and have just recently paid off their school loans. They could have taken a cozy job making millions practicing corporate law but decided to give back to their community instead. This black man and woman did everything right! It's so frustrating as a black woman observing this because *I* did everything right and it's still not good enough. You have to work twice, three times harder and still isn't good enough.

Compare the Obamas' life story to that of George "Dumbya" Bush and John McSame. These two have had everything provided for them. They've never had to work hard a day in their miserable lives. They are underachievers and despicable human beings. And yet they get a pass; they are allowed to make incredible mistakes and are accountable to no one.

The fact that the average American cannot fully understand how racism and sexism impact the daily lives of women and minorities in so many ways that aren't necessarily evident is so frustrating. When I hear people assert that we have come a long way, sure we have, but just because these "isms" aren't explicit or at the surface does not mean that they're are no longer major problems.

people have developed low expectations of their leaders. * has provided us an expectation of a highly partisan stubborn inarticulate doofus and John McCain has also kind of aspired to that same standard of *. I guess that the Repugs are comfortable with that image. Probably the MSM - which has been imbedded in this administration from probably before they took office - has acquiesced to this same image and the rest of us are accepting because we have to tolerate it - because we have had no choice but to accept it.

Now all of a sudden someone - Obama - comes along and is the complete opposite of *.

And you know what - it is so completely foreign to us that we don't - and particularly the media - doesn't know how to deal with the likes of an Obama yet.

As a result - they see him coming off as Presidential before his time - because - we/they don't know what Presidential is anymore - and someone that is actually displaying Presidential qualities is looked at as being - presumptuous.

Well deal with it people - he is our presumptive nominee.
