Let's say the event you're reporting is that Barack Obama has gotten an Old English Sheepdog as a pet for his girls Malia and Sasha.

You'll need to be able to spin interesting stories, like these:

"Is Obama pandering to the Old English Demographic?"

"No bump in Polls seen after pet buy, Why?"

"Obama, why not a pit bull, dissing his demographic?"

"Pet purchase signals VP choice - it will be Kaine!"

and...

"Why can't Obama Close the Deal with Cats?"
