Bill O'Reilly, Michael Savage, Sean Hannity on accused shooter's reading list
4-page letter outlines frustration, hatred of 'liberal movement'

Police found right-wing political books, brass knuckles, empty shotgun shell boxes and a handgun in the Powell home of a man who said he attacked a church in order to kill liberals "who are ruining the country," court records show.

Knoxville police Sunday evening searched the Levy Drive home of Jim David Adkisson after he allegedly entered the Tennessee Valley Unitarian Universalist Church and killed two people and wounded six others during the presentation of a children's musical.

Knoxville Police Department Officer Steve Still requested the search warrant after interviewing Adkisson. who was subdued by several church members after firing three rounds from a 12-gauge shotgun into the congregation.

Adkisson targeted the church, Still wrote in the document obtained by WBIR-TV, Channel 10, "because of its liberal teachings and his belief that all liberals should be killed because they were ruining the country, and that he felt that the Democrats had tied his country's hands in the war on terror and they had ruined every institution in America with the aid of media outlets."

But hows THAT for a #1 fan and there are tons and tons of them. KO should add this to his WPeopleOTW.

Government officials should be investigating the lot of them for aiding and abetting........something.

eta: I wonder if any M$M outlet will "investigate or comment".

2. Exactly what I've talked about before.
One unspoken reality of modern-day gop politics is the underlying fear that some of the more mentally unstable among them just might come totally unhinged and do something like this. Or killing a Dr. who performs abortions, or a radio talk show host.

4. Here it is from the article
Inside the house, officers found "Liberalism is a Mental Health Disorder" by radio talk show host Michael Savage, "Let Freedom Ring" by talk show host Sean Hannity, and "The O'Reilly Factor," by television talk show host Bill O'Reilly.

6. "...with the aid of media outlets."
He obviously didn't have much sense of irony.

5. I may get flamed for this, and if so I accept that it is justified...
Words beget thoughts, and thoughts beget acts.

Therefore, it behooves those who write to consider well the actions their words may inspire. Whether the people that this particular moron read actually intended to inspire massacres is open to debate (O'Reilly and Hannity are idiotic media whores, so I doubt it, Savage though...) nevertheless, there is a question of responsibility here, even if it is unintentional. The dangerous question here is how to balance responsibility for ones words, and the freedom to share them.

9. I live in Middle Tennessee and saw this on CNN while channel surfing the day it happened
and wondered what had become of the story since I wasn't being bombarded with updates. I guess his being a right wing whacko explains why the media hasn't covered it. Things like this have happened many times in the past. How many people remember Francisco Duran who fired 29 rounds at the white house during the Clinton years. He claimed that he was answering Colorado Springs radio host Chuck Baker's call to shoot the president. Baker of course vehemently denied that he had ever said that but I lived in the Springs at the time and Baker was calling for those things all of the time. The right wing is always winding up their idiots to kill somebody, abortion doctors, politicians, somebody. By the way here is what happens to some right wing nut job talk show hosts: http://www.csindy.com/gyrobase/Content?oid=oid%3A8114
