Why Obama's Western Wall prayer, being stolen and published, will ultimately help him
Edited on Sat Jul-26-08 04:32 PM by themartyred
As many felt when seeing this news release, I was outraged for him, as I wouldn't want my private thoughts addressed to GOD, which are placed in the wall as a tradition, to be openly printed and sold off - however - this publishing of his private prayer will actually be read by millions of Jewish people, and people of faith who will feel some shock in reading a prayer was 'stolen' out of the wall are going to feel sympathy for Senator Obama's privacy being horribly disrespected.

No one believes this is anything that harms Obama politically, but it is highly intrusive and shows clearly how every single thing he does will not only be put under a microscope, but everything he touches or does is ultimately a story for someone. I wouldn't be surprised to see a napkin he uses get put on ebay for goodness sake! I believe he's going to win in a landslide because there's so much interest in him, and he's clearly unique, whereas the fella he's running against is as common as the cranky old guy sitting outside a small town gas station that looks at you funny for no particular reason.

This story really makes it clear NOTHING is sacred when it comes to Obama's privacy, nothing! And now people seeing his heartfelt petition to GOD, will hopefully realize if they didn't feel this way already - see that he is a compassionate man.

Let's keep standing up for him everywhere we go - we will make a difference! If I were there and saw the student doing this at the wall I would have pressed his hand up against the wall til he apologized. Whatever 5 or 10 grand he got for the prayer, it's not worth the indignity he brought to himself and his family... watch him give it back.

15. Already happening
PUMA on another board I'm on said "Some would suggest that when you go on a grandstanding tour of the world to promote yourself like a rock-star, you open yourself up for this sort of thing."

Then later brought up this nugget from World Nut Daily that claimed Obama had papered Jerusalem with camapign posters before hand

5. Actually, I'm rather shocked that someone stole the paper, read it,
and that a newspaper published it. I hope some of the Orthodox who spend so much time throwing rocks at women who uncover their heads find time to protest this sacrilege!

6. and you were proved right...
I am certain it will make many people of that faith outraged this was done to him at their holiest of locations by one of their own. I'm glad, that despite the disrespectful act, good will come from it.

12. It makes me pretty upset
I've been to the Wall and put prayers in it a couple times...I'd be pretty upset if someone read what I wrote to G-d.

On the other hand, maybe this will help prove that Obama is not a Muslim once and for all.

8. exactly...
people respected his... there's such an extreme fascination with Obama, not only from his supporters, but from his enemies - it's very unhealthy sometimes, and this a great example. If this was done to me, I'd be disgusted someone disrespected my prayer to GOD...

really, it says it all, even his prayer isn't left alone...

16. What did they expect to find on it?
Edited on Sat Jul-26-08 06:48 PM by SemiCharmedQuark
"I really am a terrorist and I'm going to take over the United States and make it socialist. But only you and I shall ever know, Wall"

Why would they steal a prayer? That's very low.
