Brilliant strategy: Running for President? Act like one, and
do it well. Then, when your opponent criticizes, don't hit back. That way, you're talking about what you want to do, and your opponent is talking about you. All of the conversation is centered on you and what you want to do.

Obama is framing the debate and keeping McCain debating on Obama's own terms. Brilliant.

1. It is grea to see the world looking to an American for ideas rather than arms
America fell from its pedestal when it started leading through arms rather than through ideas.

2. Exactly. Obama is talking about what he is going to do. McCain is talking about what Obama is
going to do.

Everybody talks about what Obama is going to do as President.

Subliminally implanting in everyone's minds that Obama is going to be the next President.

6. That's right. I hope the conversation continues in this direction.
McCain does nothing but complain about Obama. He offers nothing of substance, making it easy for people to see that his would be another Bush term, and the people are tired of Bush. Obama becomes the breath of fresh air that everyone wants.

3. "don't hit back" is LOSER strategy
And if he follows it, he may well lose even if McCain melts down.

The campaign's already punted away several golden opportunities to to define McCain- if they stay on that path, November 2008 will look like 2000 and 3004 (and 1998).

5. You never hit a whiner
Edited on Thu Jul-24-08 02:34 PM by IWantAnyDem
and that's how McCain looks.

He's a whiner.

He even went shopping for cheese yesterday to go with that whine:

BTW, they don't need to define McCain. McCain has done a beautiful job of defining himself as a whiner and Obama need never mention the word.

8. There's a way to "hit back" without "hitting back" and Obama
is perfecting it. McCain is pummeling himself into oblivion.

11. Obama is not defensive. He's on the offense, and he's scoring at will...
that's what I mean by "not hitting back." No need to throw punches when your opponent is lying on the mat.

14. The corporate media isn't going to show ordinary voters McCain et al's mistakes
Edited on Thu Jul-24-08 02:54 PM by depakid
Unless the campaign or their surrogates go out and make them news and/or do ad buys, even the most appalling statements and policy position won't get out.

Not sure how much clearer that pattern has to be, before the beltway consultants get a clue.

19. Ah, but you leave out one very important point
The numbers of voters paying attention to the MSM are dwindling.

Every day, more people are turning to the web for their news and information. Take a look at user reach statistics on PEW sometime.

The yappity yaps are yapping to smaller audiences.

16. Obama has been working on definining himself
People already know who McCain is, and that fake aura around him will be exposed in due time. McCain seems to be his own worst enemy at this point.
