Poll question: Is Obama on the offensive enough against McCain?
Every time I turn on MSM it seems like they're airing some clip of McCain criticizing Obama. On the other hand, I almost never see any clip of Obama mentioning McCain at all. Do you think that the stay above the fray strategy is wise for Obama?

3. It's awful early to be on offense.
Obama's got to build himself up first. Then go on the offensive.

McCain's blowing his "Obama's a traitor" wad four months too soon.

I'd expect a VP pick before he goes on offense, and the VP will likely be doing most of the work in that regard.

6. You're probably right. How can McCain keep up this narrative for 4 more months?
If his numbers aren't changing with this strategy so far, I can't imagine much difference come early Nov.

4. He doesn't have to be.
McCain's self-inflicted wounds have been devastating. Obama can just sit on the sidelines and watch McCain beat the tar out of himself.

10. My thought exactly...
McCain is doing more to bring McCain down than Obama has...

I have this image of McCain whining from the sidelines while Obama, oblivious to his sniveling, just goes about his business assuring the American people the he is ready for the White House...

I almost feel sorry for McCain

...almost

9. Oh yes. Oh, my yes! It's brilliant!
I'm quite pleased with the way Obama is ignoring Sen. Gaffe McBlunder! Like one would ignore an irritating gnat.

I think it's brilliant, and I hope Obama keeps it up! Give McBlunder enough rope and he will hang his campaign all by himself!

I would so like to see a debate though. I've been promising myself that McSame will lose it in public one day. Game over!

14. Obama needs to wait until after Labor Day to put McCain down
He needs to give McCain time to botch up his own campaign with some more Gaffes. The Republicans who don't like McCain are lining up to take a shot at him. Obama should be polite and allow McCain's own party the opportunity to hit him a few times.

15. Obama Forces Flip-Flops to Paralyze McCain
Barack Obama triggered a diplomatic revolution and forced flip-flops on one of his main rivals -- incumbent President George W. Bush -- that have paralyzed the campaign of Senator John McCain.

16. Obama is the best offense-defense candidate we've ever seen.
Here's how it usually works. The Republican goes ugly. The Democrat response in kind. Everyone gets disgusted with the entire system and stays home or doesn't bother to get involved. That ultimately helps the Republicans whose voters will always show up. It erodes democracy more and more in the long run.

Obama doesn't play that game. Obama waits for the other person to go ugly, points out to everyone how sick they are of that kind of ugly politics, and then the person who attacked ends up getting hurt more by it than Obama. He did it in his US Senate primary, general election, Presidential primary and he'll do it again. It works. He needs to stick with it.

19. Without the truth in the mainstream, the race will be closer than
necessary. Impeachment could show the lies the American people believe. Without the truth, he's doing fairly well. The risk is that he will be considered risky as a choice and the man who wants more wars will be considered safe. So the race could tighten.

20. Every time they show McCain on TV he loses votes.
And, on the other hand, every time they show Obama on TV he gains votes. You don't have to even have the sound turn on. McCain looks like an old, withered, dried-up weed. Obama is young, charismatic and always, plainly speaking, "looks good."

doing. Obama only has one constituency, the voters. If he attacks McCainus he only provides fodder for the blithering idiots like Gregory and Mitchell.

23. too early to sling mud ...
Slinging soupy mud right now like McShame is doing is foolish and comes across as desperate.

Camp Obama is tellin their man to stockpile his ammo to build up the arsonal .... then "let 'er rip" and dish out a non-stop barrage of MOAB's (Mother of all bombs)later in the campaign ..... when it will be much more impactful and more people are listening.

24. Obama is using the strategy that beat Clinton. Ignore your opponent.
Speak about your ideas. Sell yourself. Treat your opponent as if they didn't exist.

I think he'll need to draw a little blood in the debates, just to show that he's aware McCain is running too, but this strategy works for him.

27. We are watching McInsane in small rooms throwing feces this way and that
while Obama is traveling the world and being treated with respect, This is all that needs to be seen on the TV. Beating up a driveling, drooling, spitting, feeble senile old man would not be a smart move. If the aggravated old fart gets dangerous, it might be necessary to point it out and get him into restraints, but for now the only effect McNasty is having is to diminish his own capacity to do harm to others.
