I don't want Romney, but he's the only guy who will take the VP spot. I bet McCain has asked a few and they've all turned him down, but Romney, he realizes accepting, even in loss, positions him for 2012.

Romney will be McCain's VP and I think it will help McCain in some rustbelt states and also on the economy, but it may hurt in the south. It probably won't be a game changer, but it's a far better pick than anything else out there.

Romney is accepted by many on the right and I think they know McCain probably won't make it through a first term, so get a VP candidate who fits their mold and have him take over the presidency when/if McCain dies.

That's the job for Romney. He really, really, really wants to be president and he sees this as a good avenue. Of course, it requires winning and that will be tough, but even in loss he becomes the de facto 2012 GOP nominee.
