New Christian PAC Supports Obama

A new Christian political action committee backing Democrat Barack Obama in the presidential race is escalating its efforts to elect the Illinois senator with the help of Christian voters this November.

The Matthew 25 Network, named after the Bible verse (“I tell you the truth, as you did it to one of the least of these my brothers, you did it to me”) is a consortium of Christian faith leaders and activists working to elect more Democrats to office who share the same “biblical and gospel values,” said Mara Vanderslice, the head of the PAC.

The group’s advertising efforts debuted prior to the Indiana Democratic primary in early May. Vanderslice said the group intends to spend at least $500,000 in advertising between now and Nov. 4, and the group will focus mainly on Christian radio and Christian publications, such as the National Catholic Reporterand Relevant Magazine.

A new one-minute radio ad will be airing on Christian radio in Ohio, Michigan, and Colorado in the short-term. Vanderslice said they plan to expand the buy to other swing states, including Pennsylvania, Virginia, Missouri, and North Carolina…………….

a quote from the Bible that has "the truth" incorporated in it..that says it all to me.

I don't do dogma but I know there's a lot of people who are religious who are Democrats and don't go for bombing countries to secure oil for their donors.

11. Love that name, Matthew 25 Network! The key passage in Scripture. It's great to see it

publicised, too, though no ad man in the world could ever find a more evocative and telling standard to rally to, in a world more starved of justice than at any time in the history of the world.

It is clear from one or two passages in the Old Testament, notably in the Book of Esther, that some rulers, even non-Hebrew despots, felt bound in their conduct to abide by the laws of their country.

Even that scapegrace wretch Ahab wouldn't wrest Naboth's vineyard from him without the instigation of his wife, Jezebel, still less think of doing so by murdering him, yet he was considered worse than any of his precessors. Yet in both our countries, the US and the UK, the makers of our laws feel that they are, themselves, by that very fact, above the law.

In the US, poor Naboth would have "eminent domain" proclaimed over his vineyard; in the UK, doubtless the local city council would acquire it by compulsory-purchase order on effectively the same grounds.

I'm an atheist, but many of the people people I know, of various faiths, are not neocons at all. They believe their faith teaches them to do good, care for those who need help, and be tolerant and supportive of other perspectives. Not the closed minded, judgmental thinking seen among the "religious right".
