So, are Reed, Hagel, and Nunn the VP candidates?

Who do you think is the probable VP candidate?

1. Unfortunately it won't be Clark. The McCain camp is running ads in Michigan with Clark

saying that Obama does not have the experience to be commander in chief. The line that he and Hillary used in the primaries.

Because of the tactics that Clinton used in the primaries, I think that both Clark and Clinton are out as VP candidates.


Who knows who he will pick. I'm sure his decision will be well thought out however.

2. I've been trying to read the tea leaves. It's difficult.

So I just keep looking who is with him in appearances and work from there, but I just don't have a clue.

13. Actually, putting Clark on the ticket would difuse that.

But, I'm sure he'll pick some milquetoast white boy with no gravitas like Bayh or Edwards (who look eerily alike) or Gephardt. Someone about as exciting as dry toast.

A case can still be made for a list that might include some 20 names or so, IMO.

Biden. Bayh. Sherrod Brown. Clark. Clinton. Dodd. John Edwards. Bob Graham. Kaine. McCaskill. Napolitano. Reed. Richardson. Ritter. Schweitzer. Sebelius.

I left Sam Nunn out because we're having breakfast.

I'd be mighty comfortable with Feingold, Bill Bradley, Hart, Barbara Boxer, Waxman, Wexler, and RFK Jr. But they might be harder sells to many voters. Which is too bad because they're among my favorites ever.

My sense of who's on the short list fluctuates hourly.

5. Yep -- Daschle stood up for Obama strong and early. I expect he

is gong to be considered, maybe for veep, or chief of staff -- something with some clout.

We'll know within a week or so I expect. I'm still hoping for Schweitzer, but that would be too good to be true.

Obama needed a Republican to make this trip bipartisan. On the war issue, Hagel was probably the best choice--what's surprising to me is that he went.

Reed already has a pretty important job.

Somebody else, hopefully a governor from the south or the west. I like Richardson.

9. Yes. Richardson has got to be a contender.

In addition to the gleaming resume, Richardson almost certainly wins us his home state plus Colorado, and those are red Bush states from 04.

It likely gives us the White House, since McCain would have to counter with taking away 1 or 2 blue states from the Kerry/Edwards column, and that seems increasingly unlikely.

You don't run a change campaign with an old-school hawk on the ticket, nor a Democratic one with a fucking repuke.

Now Reed I can get my head around.

11. I think it's these four: Biden, Reed, Kaine, and Sebelius.

It will come down to one of those, I'll put money on it. My preference is Reed, then Biden. I think Hagel might have been on a job interview for cabinet or some other admin job.

12. The truth is that nobody here knows and the media doesn't know.

The longer Nunn's name is bandied about, the better our chances of flipping Georgia. And that's why I think his name is out there.

The same thing goes for Hagel. It is intriguing to many independents and republicans that his name is floated. Barack's willingness to reach across the aisle is evidenced by this trip.

Reed? Most people don't know who he is.

I don't think any of them are actually on the short list. But they're certainly useful right now and that's a good thing.
