A very judgmental question:
Edited on Tue Jul-22-08 09:15 PM by Labors of Hercules

If John McCain is boring and stupid while Barack Obama is engaging and brilliant...

Why would anyone who is not an idiot vote for McCain?

1. There are plenty of idiots out there
Look at 2000 and 2004.

What more proof do you need? Those elections shouldn't have even been close.

2. Stand around a 7-11 for a couple of hours on any freeway anywhere and
you get to see more stupid than any reasonable person could believe.

This country is FULL of stupid.

4. The stupid that the country is full of includes our fathers and mothers,
our sisters and brother, our friends, neighbors and coworkers. The vast, vast majority are just regular people who, like most of us, lead lives of quiet desperation and are by and large just regular people. It's a good thing they have us to take care of them though.

6. That's my point...
being a regular person does not mean you're an idiot, but voting for John McCain certainly does.

7. If our candidate was an idiot in comparison with theirs, we would vote for that person
because given the differences in philosophy between the 2 parties we would not have another viable choice. The way things are now, the president will either be a Republican or a Democrat. We prefer the Democrat, they prefer the Republican and that transcends the idiocy or stupidity of either or both candidates.

8. When has an idiot ever run on the Democratic ticket for President?
Some may have been lousy campaigners or made stupid mistakes in isolation, but none have been legitimate idiots like Reagan, the Bushes or McCain.

I could have asked the same question about Reagan or Junior after the fact and the implication would have been the same.

3. canvassing for local cong candidate and met one Democrat who is still
"uncomfortable" with Obama and another that is "afraid" (he meant that he didn't have any policy ideas - he said.

It isn't about people voting for McCain - just people voting for or against Obama.

5. Easy - Lazy Journalist Who Cut and Paste GOP Talking Points
Scan through a couple of websites and the one thing that is amazingly consistent are the political news stories. For example, the "Media is biased talking point." Or, the McCain campaign canned responses, which are mindlessly repeated. There simply is no diversity or real journalism. The coordinated outing of Valerie Plame gave glimpse of just how incestuous the relationship is between the press and the GOP. If you think that there is no real difference between news outlets, you would be right.
