Clinton makes pitch to letter carriers in S. Boston for Obama

Hillary Clinton, in South Boston yesterday to continue her efforts to unite the Democratic Party, urged thousands of letter carriers who had been early and enthusiastic backers of her campaign to throw their support behind Barack Obama, her former rival and now the presumptive nominee.

Clinton told nearly 10,000 members of the National Association of Letter Carriers, gathered at the Boston Convention and Exhibition Center for their biennial convention, that electing Obama would mean expanding healthcare access, preventing further outsourcing of government jobs, and improving the lives of working people across the country.

"The best way to stand up for everyone who feels invisible is to make sure we have a Democratic president taking the oath of office on Jan. 20, 2009," she said.

.....

Clinton has appeared at a pair of Obama fund-raisers in New York City and aides said her calendar is quickly filling with other events. She has also brought her unity message to the American Federation of Teachers convention and the League of United Latin American Citizens convention earlier this month.

.....

Her appearance yesterday was suffused with nostalgia. The union presented Clinton with a sentimental video of her on the campaign trail and unanimously voted to make her an honorary union member. She accepted, inviting members to flag her down if they ever need a helping hand along their routes. But she never lost sight of her message.

Thank you Senator Clinton. :patriot:

1. Good for her. I gotta believe the hurt feelings are outweighed by the stakes.
Another fiery campaign coming? I think so, and if Bill and Hillary think they may make the difference, look out.

Yeah, they are pissed. But they have got to be infinitely more pissed at what has been and is going to be rolled out against Obama. I can't see them sitting on the sidelines on this one, as is shown here.

They love this stuff. It's in their blood. Give them until August 1 - next week - and I am guessing they will come out firing on all cylinders.

2. That's good...how are they
different than the US Postal Service?

"US postal workers union endorses Obama
Apr 9, 2008

WASHINGTON (AFP) — US Democratic White House hopeful Barack Obama on Wednesday won the endorsement of the country's largest postal workers union in a fresh boost to his 2008 nomination race against rival Hillary Clinton.

"Senator Obama's message is one of hope and change," American Postal Workers Union (APWU) president William Burrus said in a statement.

"We believe he will be a president who will strongly represent the interests of working Americans," he added.

The union represents more than 300,000 postal employees and retirees."

3. This is good stuff. It is clear that Hillary is moving on, and I hope
that most of her supporters, including her husband, do as well.

7. Good. Seems she's moved on from her loss and is trying to help the nominee.
