A Conservative Lineup for Obama's cabinet
Some time back, I posited a that if Obama had a strong Ruthless streak and submerged lefty tendencies, he might start his administration with a very conservative lineup, particularly for the cabinet. Its what I would do.

Thinking being this: If you pick and choose correctly, you can draw the centrists and some Righties out of the Senate and House. Pick the ones where the gov who gets to replace them will bring someone better on board, or where you are certain that the people would choose someone better, if only the incumbent was out of the way. Dino's, and even some pubs. Hell, maybe even pull McCain himself out. Feinstein(does Cali elect or is it appointment?). Lieberman! This way, you can shift the Congress in a better direction, even if only a limited number of seats.

Doing this gives you "centrist" "unity" cred that you can use to overshadow any squawking being made about getting the Justice department quietly but firmly working to dig up all the bones of the past 30 years, and prosecuting all the illegal activities that you find. Without regard to party affiliation, I feel safe saying we would lose some Democrats, but I also feel very safe saying we would likely have a bumper crop of Republican officials heading to the slammer before too terribly long.

Then, back to the Cabinet, you very carefully, let them drive the country right to the frickin brink. Let them dig their own Graves, making it clear that it is their doing, and you are "playing ball" with the post partisanship and bringing everyone to the table. And when you get to that point, where everyone but the 19%ers see exactly how far that path gets us, take their resignations. They are All out. On their ears. Due to their own demonstrated incompetence. With no handy elected office to fall back to, their former ones being filled, they probably become TV commentators, if they are lucky.

And you have a congress that might actually back you in enacting some real New Deal type work to save this country.

So.. your thoughts? What I see doesn't make me think thats where we are headed, but is it even a workable plan?

...drive the country to the brink just to make a point for leftists?

I don't know who that theory insults more, centrists, leftists, or Obama. But it's certainly a leftist fantasy.

3. What's the point in winning? So this country can get on the
right track and right itelf, that is why! Do you really think Obama is going to "find out all the wrongs fromt he past 30 years" and is going into the white house on some hunt for the guilty? THAT isn't going to happen. He will have his hands full getting this country on the right track. If you are hoping for some mass hunt down you are going to be disappointed.

5. We won't put the country on the right track by filling the cabinet with those who have derailed it.
I want Obama to fill his cabinet with Democrats. I don't think it's too much to expect.

7. qb - people seem to be missing the point. It is a strategic move ala taking impeachment off the
table. The replacements for these appointees would be stronger, more liberal Democrats.

The further damage would be minimal compared to what has been done as well as a lesson to the public about how bad this group has run things.

The end result would be a better Congress and a public more accepting of a real progressive agenda.

But, it is not going to happen because 1) Obama is not that liberal and 2) the powers thar run the party would not be able to wait to get their hands on the tiller of government.

Nice idea, though.

8. Isn't this the kind of politics that the "hope" and "change" mantra was supposed to be against?

Funny to see Team Obama run the same, dusty ol flag up the political pole as soon as the primaries were over, after spending months condemning it.
