CHANGE. IS. TAKING. CHARGE!
Edited on Sun Jul-20-08 12:49 PM by berni_mccoy
Obama has been saying all along that we are far past the time when we should be negotiating with Iran. Iran is a key player in the Middle East, and while they are not friendly toward us, they have a stake in what happens in Iraq and are impacted by our failed policy in the Middle East and Iraq. The way to achieving peace is to not call them out as a member of the Axis of Evil, but rather find the terms of which a relationship can be established.

7 long years after Bush positioned Iran as a member of the Axis of Evil, he is now doing what he and many members of the GOP have labeled as "appeasing the terrorists". They are doing what Obama has said he would do all along: talk, negotiate, use diplomacy.

Just as Obama was correct in his judgement about going to War with Iraq, where both McCain and Bush were wrong, Obama was also right about talking with Iran. And Bush sees that now, and he is following Obama's lead. McCain still does not see it and he cannot afford to follow Obama's lead without admitting he's already lost the election. Well, at least for McCain, that is one difference he can call out from Bush.

And now, as Obama tours the Middle East, Afghanistan and Europe, we hear agreement with him from the leaders of Iraq and Afghanistan. PM Maliki has said he supports Obama's plan. Karzai agrees with Obama that more troops are needed. Again, Obama is taking charge with his leadership and the Bush Administration is left scrambling, following Obama's lead after it has been far too late for them to act on their own. And McCain, again is forced to disagree or admit Obama is right on far too much.

And while the Media has struggled to spin this for Bush and McCain, too much has leaked out to the broad, general public. They have seen these great successes and validation of Obama's plan and policies. The Bush Administration in it's ultimate buffoonery pressed the wrong button on an email memo and sent it not to the internal WH groups, but instead to the press. The memo? Praise for Obama as reported by the press. The GOP is sending emails left and right, saying literally, "We're F#@%*@!". Freepers heads have exploded and then imploded, only to explode again on these recent revelations of Obama being right on Iraq from the start, being right on Iran, and then being validated by both Maliki and Karzai.

The media have given Obama presidential treatment on the Obama World Tour. They have sent their best, their top Anchors along with him. This kind of media coverage is unprecedented for a candidate.

To top it all off, the MSM back home, unable to spin this in any way negative, is left playing videos of Obama being treated like a rock star, hanging with the troops and making, on the first try, 3-point swooshes on the basketball courts in Kuwait.

It is as if Obama was already President, his words affecting change in an immovable, stubborn Administration, causing them to perform dramatic, earth shattering 180's on what they were previously credited as their strong point: foreign policy and the war on terror. Obama has proven his worth on these areas of policy and it has been done so in a very public way. Change. Is. Taking. Charge!

2. Beautiful. I thank you for this because you are 100% correct.
He's crossed the line and really brought people together even if some are angry and others feel betrayed he's doing what he cans for us and I'm bloody glad about it. You're statement above logically chronicles what's going on at home and overseas. I'd like to see what the leader of Iran would say.

This is going to be one historical and major presidential election. It is true, it's as though Obama is already president and everyone else is repubs in his cabinet who are grudgingly following his orders. Idiots. Wait until Obama and his cabinet take the helm.

6. K&R, right!
Exactly, thank you.

Do you ever hear more than a moment of Sen. Obama speaking on the news? I feel like he's being silenced, showing photos but no sound, but it could just be the news I'm catching. I keep waiting to hear his voice and I think if the undecideds out there heard him too, this will be a landslide.

7. Yep, when people listen to Obama, they need to hear more...
And when you honestly think about what he is saying, then, regardless of what your political orientation may be, he wins you over.

I too believe there has been a blackout of the substance of his words.

10. So what are we going to do about it?
Seems like the media spied on the netroot
for information about Hillary and FISA and what we said about it.
Shouldn't we be talking about the media right now,
over and over again?

Maybe they'll hear that we know what they are doing.

9. There is a lovely diary over at DailyKos along
similar lines (Warning: slightly over the top, unnecessary references to his blackness):
