Official: Obama to meet Karzai on Sunday
KABUL, Afghanistan (CNN) — Sen. Barack Obama, on a visit to Afghanistan, will spend Saturday night there, and he is expected to meet Afghan President Hamid Karzai on Sunday, a U.S. official in Afghanistan told CNN. No other details were available.

The presumptive Democratic presidential nominee was visiting the southern Asian nation before he embarked on a tour of the Middle East and Europe, a trip aimed at boosting his foreign policy credentials.

The trip, which comes four months ahead of the presidential election, marks Obama’s first visit to Afghanistan. He visited Iraq in 2006.

2. Correction: Obama meets with the Mayor of Kabul
Karzai only controls Kabul by the sheer force of US and NATO troops. The rest of Afghanistan is under the control of whoever is the strongest, but it is never the Afghan government.
