so out we went
on tuesday
the rain so thick the dampness was predatory
first for a bagel at a local shop
they actually make them on site
i had onion
my wife had plain, toasted, with a schmear
(thats what the bagel lady calls it)
then we crossed the lagoon to melbourne
it was going on 11 when we started talking people up
we started in the Suntree area
knocking on the strange doors of strange people
we had 20 copies each of Obamas issue statements from his website
each with web addresses on business size cards stapled onto them
to point those interested to online support
most people are polite and will give you about a minute and a half to interest them
some are not and slam doors in your face
some are not and give a more subtle rejection
many are knowledgeable about the Obama's and take copies to use to try to change minds at work
or in their families
we walked the neighborhood and met the people
we gave out all 40 of our papers
we had to go by the copy place and get the web info copied
made 40 more of the business sized cards in about 20 minutes
technology is a wonderful thing
i got home ith 17 of the business cards left
so 63 of those are out there

and i got to spend a fun rainy day with my sweety
all in all a good day i think
wildcat politics is my favorite

17. You just made me wish I weren't single, for the first time ever.
That sounds like it was fun. And patriotic. What else could one want.

Schmears, companionship, and politics!

22. Say not more. Say no more.
Wink wink. Nod nod.

Actually, I like being single and hermit-like. However, if you know anyone who likes very strange music, working on tractors, and the continuous pursuit of mastering the art of espresso, give me a ring!

I'm now just over 50. My most beloved companion cat, Farnsworth, just died last week, and so now there is an empty void in my life. All of these things tend to make one feel a bit alone. For the first time in my life I actually feel a bit lonely.

Oh well, it's back on the tractor. I've got dirt to move. I'm building a house. It's quite a lot of fun. And that leads to the other thing- sharing.

OK, enough about ME. :)
