For the record, I think the recent JibJab is funny as hell...
...and REALLY well executed. The animation and ESPECIALLY the soundtrack has improved exponentially since their infamous 2004 'toon.

And if this is the cartoon everyone will be forwarding to their friends and neighbors this season, Obama could have been portrayed a LOT worse. So he's lampooned as skipping through a meadow like a Disney fairy tale character--and he repeats the word "Change" a lot. So what? What's particularly negative about that? McCain is present as an over-militarized "jackass" with liberal leanings and a whole slew of health problems. Our guy got off easy.

Of course, I doubt I'd be laughing if I was a former Clinton supporter, but oh well...

3. Agreed that the audio and animation are pretty spectacular
I just wish they wouldn't imply that both candidates will fuck us if they win.

6. Because if Obama is politics as usual, they'll go with familiar-or the misconceptions of McCain

9. Oh come on, it's a classic trope of populist humor to imply all politicians are crooks and liars.
And JibJab are trying to present themselves as the Will Rogers of the internet cartoon world. Can't blame 'em for wanting to appear unbiased--they get more viewers that way.

Anyway, what with the current cover of the New Yorker still on a lot of people's minds, I still think Obama could have been caricatured a LOT worse. Frankly, he comes off a lot better than McCain--that "swollen gland" thing is just plain disgusting.

10. You might even call them conservative (lower-case 'c') cartoonists.
I was waiting for the "Vote Ron Paul" sign at the end. ;)

Actually I completely understand why they always choose to go right down the middle. It's because they make more money that way.

8. Jib Jab cartoons are usually "hard" on everybody.
They exploited all the Kerry stereotypes as well as the Bush stereotypes in their original "This Land" video from 2004 (Which can still be seen on their site.

and I'm not understanding why it's all over the MSM today.

12. Jib Jab is funny, the New Yorker cover was indeed satire
South Park is funny, even when they make fun of liberals.

The left is getting as strident and angry and unfunny as the far right.

Yes, atrocities happen, yes, liberties are curtailed, yes bad things like racism and sexism abound, Darfur, Iraq and many other serious issues are gut wrenching... but some things are funny and its okay to laugh at yourself (myself, ourselves, whatever).

13. I think they're funny.
It's not earth-shattering but they're amusing, and not to be taken too seriously.
