Will someone please explain to me why the DNC isn't pounding McSame on his lies, gaffes?
Edited on Tue Jul-15-08 06:00 PM by Liberal_Stalwart71
I'm losing my mind here.

Why isn't the DNC running ads showing McSame's flip-flops on major, major issues? Why isn't the DNC and the Obama camp ridiculing McSame for claiming credit for the GI bill, and now stealing Obama's plan to send more troops to Afghanistan?

The DNC is missing a great opportunity as they did with Kerry. The soundbites are available on YouTube and other venues. They can use McSame's own words against him. Meanwhile, the Repugs have convinced Americans--even many of us on DU--that Obama is the flip-flopper and McSame is the "straight talker." Repukes are brilliant at running this narrative and defining the Democrats. Why aren't we fighting back??!?!?

Someone please help me understand why the DNC/Obama are failing to seize the moment here? McSame's candidacy should have been over last week!!!

2. The DNC has been putting its money into field operations...
Ad buys at this time of the year are an incredible waste of resources, especially as compared to neighbor-to-neighbor outreach.

4. It's like that tree that falls in the forest
If the DNC rips the evil elf a new one for all his fuckups and the MSM fails to report it, did they really do it?

The librul media will sift through whatever they receive from the DNC and report only what they want. And you know they won't report anything unfavorable to Grandpa.

7. They have no money?
Seriously what do you want them to run ads with they don't have any cash. I'd give but I'm tapped out from giving to Obama.

8. DNC funds are tight
The DNC doesn't have a lot of money right now. That was part of Obama's calculation in choosing to forgo federal funds.

I think they need to spend what they have carefully.

for the last 2 days .... Don't know why they aren't running ads ... maybe they are in markets we aren't in ....?

DEAN TO LEAD NATIONAL VOTER REGISTRATION EFFORT
July 15, 2008 - The Democratic National Committee announced today that Governor Howard Dean will lead a national grassroots voter registration effort. The cross country bus tour, "Register for Change," will build on the overwhelming enthusiasm and voter turnout seen during the primaries as Democrats mobilize and organize voters for the fall election. The bio-diesel bus, flagged in red, white and blue with the Register for Change message, is 45' long, 13'4" high and 8.5' wide and will also serve as a mobile campaign office.

AUDIO OF CONFERENCE CALL REMARKS: BECERRA (D-CA) AND MEDINA RESPOND MCCAIN'S SPEECH AT NCLR
July 14, 2008 - Congressman Xavier Becerra (D-CA) and Eliseo Medina held a conference call today to respond to John McCain's speech at NCLR, and call for straight talk from the GOP candidate on his promise of a third Bush term and contradictions on immigration reform.

MCCAIN WATCH: IMMIGRATION: JOHN MCCAIN WILL SAY ANYTHING TO WIN
July 14, 2008 - John McCain may be trying to turn the page on the disastrous week he just had, but this week is shaping up to be no better. Today, Senator McCain will walk a tightrope at the National Council of La Raza's annual conference in San Diego. McCain's recent double talk on immigration is proof he will say anything to get elected. That dissonance was on display yesterday on a campaign conference call where one of McCain's advisors touted border security measures in a bill McCain is co-sponsoring with Senator Lindsey Graham. According to the AP, that bill also includes making undocumented status a criminal misdemeanor, something very different from the comprehensive approach the candidate is likely to emphasize at La Raza today.

New DNC Video Blasts McCain-Gramm Economic Vision
July 14, 2008 - After a weekend of watching John McCain's campaign try to distance itself from campaign co-chair and top economic advisor Phil Gramm, the Democratic National Committee today released a new video highlighting the inseparable link between McCain and Gramm. Called "John McCain & Phil Gramm: It's All In Your Head," the new video shows McCain repeatedly praising Gramm's judgment on the economy and echoing Gramm's claim that the economic challenges facing America's working families are "psychological."

Here's a write up from today:

McCain Flips on Afghanistan, Echoes Obama Position

Campaigning in New Mexico this afternoon, John McCain flipped on increasing American forces in Afghanistan:

Part way into his speech today about the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, and national security, Republican presidential contender John McCain said this:

"Our commanders on the ground in Afghanistan say that they need at least three additional brigades. Thanks to the success of the surge, these forces are becoming available, and our commanders in Afghanistan must get them."

A week ago, McCain's advisers said he would rely mostly on additional NATO troops and on Pakistan's military, not more U.S. forces, to bring more pressure to bear on Taliban and al-Qaeda fighters in Afghanistan and Pakistan.

Senator Barack Obama, with the judgment to lead, beat John McCain to it by about 18 months. Speaking to the Chicago Council on Global Affairs in November 2006, Senator Obama outlined his views on Iraq, and recommended increasing American forces in Afghanistan.

"We cannot compromise on the safety of our troops, and we should be willing to adjust to realities on the ground," he said.

He proposed redeploying troops to Northern Iraq and to other countries in the region. He recommended boosting troop strength in Afghanistan, "where our lack of focus and commitment of resources has led to an increasing deterioration of the security situation there."

"For only through this phase redeployment can we send a clear message to the Iraqi factions that the United States is not going to hold together this country indefinitely — that it will be up to them to form a viable government that can effectively run and secure Iraq," he said.

Update: Within a matter of minutes of his appearance in New Mexico, John McCain flipped on Afghanistan yet again.

In an interview with reporters aboard his campaign bus, Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) modified his assertion today that the U.S. could send three additional brigades to Afghanistan by drawing on troops that were leaving Iraq.

The presumptive GOP nominee, who made his initial remarks in a speech before an Albuquerque audience, told reporters just minutes after the event that he might call on NATO to supply part of the additional troops he hopes to send to the region.

10. The fight between Dean and Rahm and Carville...
was about expensive TV ads...in 2006 when Rahm yelled obscenities at Dean and stormed out of the room.

Dean's goal was on the ground GOTV operations and not attacks ads.

Besides so called progressives failed him when he tried to fundraise with small donors, and corporate donors don't like his strategy...and they only give to the DSCC and DCCC.

12. I remember that. And Emmanuel took and received credit for the Democratic takeover
when it was actually Dean's 50-state strategy that was responsible for Democratic gains.

13. $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$
Hillary's big money donors have cut off the DNC.
Hillary saw to it that every dime possible was spent in the primary.

That's why.
