TR was going to be his "role model"...I can't think of too many that would find the analogy appropriate. bush is about as far from TR as I am from Calvin Coolidge!

There was no corruption in the TR WH, he ran a pretty tight ship as far as matters of state go, he was outgoing, affable, honest, a good administrator and well liked....precisely the opposite of bush.

It's also been a good 6 years since the GOP has used the "Party of Lincoln" ploy as well. But there is an odd connection there as well...Lincoln tried to hold back and then win a civil War; bush started one and feeds it every day with the blood and sinew of our nation's youth. Lincoln despised war; bush relishes it, he can't get enough carnage, he is one evil bastard.

that ER - even before TR died - was his true legacy. When he won the Nobel Peace Prize, he gave a chunk of the cash to Eleanor "because she will know what to do with it," unlike his unruly spawn.
