Schwarzenegger says: open to serving as Obama's 'energy czar'
(snip) California Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger said in an interview aired Sunday that he would be open to the idea of serving as energy czar in a Barack Obama administration.

Regardless of whether he takes that particular job, Schwarzenegger, a Republican, added on ABC’s “This Week” that he’s now committed to continuing public service even after he leaves Sacramento.

Schwarzenegger endorsed John McCain at the end of January, and McCain has appeared with “the Governator” to praise his efforts to deal with climate change.

A Schwarzenegger appointment would add even more star power to a hypothetical Obama administration, and would allow Obama to make an appointment from across the aisle that would not upset his core supporters.

1. Is Arnold saying that he won't run against Boxer if
Obama makes him part of his cabinet?

The main problem I have with Arnold as energy czar is that I think Arnold might have been in on the Enron swindle of CA that resulted in Grey Davis, the man who won the race for governor in an honest election, being recalled.

3. "Might have been"?
He was one of a select few who attended a special meeting with Ken Lay at the Beverly Hills Hotel during the height of the power crisis in California.

If Obama would seriously consider giving Schwarzenegger a high-profile, high-importance position like energy czar, we've already lost.

18. Yeah, no idea what Davis was thinking through all of it
Clint Eastwood even offered to do a tv spot for him, which i think would've really blunted Schwarzenegger's appeal to the 'Governator? Kewl!' crowd, but Davis turned him down.

2. Arnold's endorsement for McCain sounded about as sincere as...
...Bill Clinton's endorsement of Obama.

And this very statement by Arnold pretty much deflates his obligatory endorsement.

Say what you will, Arnold Schwarzenegger has a far more progressive position on energy matters than the typical Republican, or the typical American.

4. Uh no. After reading about the Enron fiasco and the California crisis
I don't think Ahhnold will be qualified as a dog catcher much less than his fifth-rate actor. Enron and its ilk got off lightly on the crisis, paying only pennies to the dollar, and as a result, stiffing a lot of people, and its eventual demise. Kenny Lay died, and stiffing further since his estate can't be touched.

5. Best laugh I've had in a very long time
Didn't Arrrnooolld meet with Ken Lay just prior to getting elected

THEN DECISIVELY agreed to sign off on the $Billion dollar lawsuit California won against Enrom for just pennys on the dollar

Every time I hear some Rat-publican shill touting Arnold it makes me want to puke

I can think of about a dozen people better qualified without giving a moment's thought.

Top of my list- John Holdren, Bill Clinton's top energy advisor, founder of the UC Berkeley Energy and Resources group, Macarthur award winner, Harvard prof at the Kennedy School, Director of Woods Hole, and my old prof-

John P. Holdren is Teresa and John Heinz Professor of Environmental Policy and Director of the Program on Science, Technology, and Public Policy at the Kennedy School, as well as Professor of Environmental Science and Public Policy in the Department of Earth and Planetary Sciences at Harvard University. He is also the Director of the Woods Hole Research Center and from 2005 to 2008 served as President-Elect, President, and Chair of the Board of the American Association for the Advancement of Science. His work focuses on causes and consequences of global environmental change, analysis of energy technologies and policies, ways to reduce the dangers from nuclear weapons and materials, and the interaction of content and process in science and technology policy.

16. Energy Czar? Seriously?
WTF does this guy know about energy? He's an actor not an economist or geologist. Wasn't this idiot driving a hummer till a year ago?

On the positive note its always good when the enemies on troops start talking about possibly serving in your administration.
