A note to my Republican friends

I have worked hard all my life since I was twelve or so, sometimes with two jobs and even into my retirement years. My wife has too. We both came from poverty level income families and knew if we ever had anything, we would have to work hard and save every penny. We worked full time jobs and put ourselves through college, and my wife went to graduate school. I passed the Professional Engineers exam and got my highway construction license too. We had to stay conscious of our goals to educate our kids and have the house paid off by the time we retired. We drove junky second hand cars and seldom went out to dinner or to a movie. We did without things so we could make ends meet.
Finally, the kids got through college and the house was paid off and we both retired. We had even been able to save a little so we could do some of the things we saw other people do but we only just dreamed about. Things like driving out to Yellowstone for vacation and shopping at the grocery store with out having to check the bank account. Little things, but things that we never thought we would be able to do.
Now, gas is four dollars a gallon, food, utilities and other basic necessities are sky rocketing and the economy is facing a catastrophic event that would make the great depression look like a picnic. Joblessness and homelessness is at an all time high, record numbers of people are on the street, destitute and hopeless. We’re taking money out of the pockets of the poor and placing it in the hands of the wealthiest companies in the world like Exxon who are enjoying record profits heretofore unknown in the history of mankind. Offshore drilling will not be the answer. It won’t even be a partial solution. I know, I know what Fox news said, but Fox news is not a news channel. It’s a propaganda channel and you have been dumb enough to swallow their talking points hook line and sinker. I just hope the truth doctrine will be reinstated. The drug companies are writing the food and drug laws. Ever since the Republicans stood on the steps of congress and took out their contract on America they have stolen lied and cheated the American people. Our enemies are sitting on the sidelines enjoying every minute of it waiting for our country to finally shut down. We’re stuck in a war of choice of the great decider George W. Bush, going in debt of trillions of dollars to Communist China that our grandchildren won’t be able to pay off. I just hope our former enemies will be kind enough not to foreclose on us.
This is not the fault of Bill Clinton or Ted Kennedy.
Impeachment and trial for war crimes would be a start to regain respect in the world for our country. I think the world is waiting to see who we elect for president and how we treat George W Bush. If you voted for George Bush then you voted against me and my family. If you vote for John McCain then you are voting for our enemies and against our country. The republican congressmen who thought they were being so clever from 2000 to 2006, by submitting to moron George Bush’s every whim should be locked away in prison. Cheney, Bush should be tried for murder of 4000 young American citizens who died in Iraq. I don’t think I will live long enough to see our country recover from the mess George W. Bush and the crooked Republican Party has made of our country.

3. Republicons not only swallow the Fox propaganda, they pay for it...
Edited on Sun Jul-13-08 07:11 AM by SpiralHawk
They pay their freaking monthly cable fees to enable the corporations to pour their Fox (such an apt name) propaganda down into their conscious and unconscious minds.

Republicons not only lap up the corporate spin, they pay for the 'privilege' of surrendering their free will and powers of discernment.

4. Bravo on an excellent post!
Like you, I was taught to live frugally, and have worked all my adult life. My land is free and clear, and the only bills I owe are the electric and telephone/internet each month. I walk to work. I have a garden. I understand the importance of living a healthy lifestyle so that it is less likely that I will become sick.

Now, I don't begrudge individuals whose lifestyles are different than mine. It is their business if they wish to owe money on credit cards, etc, each month. But when the government spends recklessly, it very much IS my business. I agree that every conman (they don't deserve the term "Congressman")who aided and abetted Bush in the rape and pillage of our nation should be held criminally responsible.

Only wish my words were as eloquent as yours.

7. The Fairness Doctrine or something similar needs to be re-instituted
because Fox "News" Misinformation is poisoning the minds of otherwise fairly reasonable people.

Great points, In_Transit. :pals:

12. The Fairness Doctrine protected morons from propaganda like
Fox news. As a democrat and an American citizen, I have always thought ignorance was our enemy. After these eight years, I know for sure that if we are brought down it will be from ignorance, indifference or incompetence the three I's or any combination. This administration has shown to excel in all three.
Thank you for the compliment. After a bout with my repug sister in law I just have been thinking of things I wish I'd said.I decided to write them down this morning before dawn while her sorry ass was still sleeping and content that everything was all right in the world.

8. Excellent post, In_Transit!
This country is in a very scary place right now. I've been feeling down lately looking at the polls and seeing that Obama and McCain are separated by 3 percentage points with a 3% +/- margin of error. I don't know how much more bleak of an outlook Republican voters will need to see before they realize that McCain = McSame. It's been almost eight long years of this Bush nightmare and I never thought that one administration could take us so far away from the respect and admiration from so much of the rest of the world.

If we get another four more years with someone like Bushco in the White House, I don't see how we will last. I would love to copy your post and e-mail it to all of my Republican friends, but thankfully I only have one. And she's gonna vote for Obama.

15. Yes she is.
I'm not sure why she's still a republican, but we're wearing her down. We've got her off FUX NEWS, but not onto Air America yet.
I think that she can be saved. ;)

don't try to whitewash the culpability of Democrats. For example, Clinton pushed "free" trade (a.k.a. let's exploit workers throughout the world) and further financial deregulation (which led to the sub-prime crisis).

And as far as that war of choice. If Democrats would have stood up for what is right, instead of worrying about their political careers we wouldn't be in this war b/c ONLY CONGRESS CAN DECLARE WAR (that's why it was called the IWR). You can't vote to go to war and then wash you hands of any responsibility when we actually go to war.

To put Clinton and Kennedy in the same sentence is ludicrous. Kennedy has spent his entire life fighting the good fight and working hard for the American people.

22. Trust me, I'm not trying to whitewash the culpability of democrats

Clinton did push for "free" trade. He also spent his last years in office defending himself for lying about a blowjob.Boy those republicans are pure as the driven snow.Especially when they throw in the bible and the flag. The sub-prime crises was orchestrated by criminal leadership in the republican party. Where in the hell have you been?

The congress has a right to expect certain things, not the least is honesty about world affairs from their president.Bush knew exactly what he was doing. So that war of choice was approved by a congress who was misled by a lying sonofabitch. I do believe Bush, Cheny Rumsfield deserve their day in court for war crimes.

I put Clinton and Kennedy in the same sentence because jokes about them was the drug of choice to simple minded republicans so they could be pumped full of Murdock's bullshit via Hannity O'rilely Limbaugh etc.You might not understand if you are an avid Fox watcher.

25. I was paying attention when people BEGGED Clinton NOT to pass further
deregulation (and this was AFTER the S&L debacle so it's not like he can claim "how could we have known"). Enough with the Clinton blow job references. Who cares.

As far as Clinton and the rest of the Democrats being the victims of a dishonest Bush (gasp - how could we have known he attended to go to war even though it was called the IWR), that is such crap. But let's just say you're right. If that's the case then they are TOO STUPID to be an elected official b/c many AVERAGE Americans understood it was a vote to GO TO WAR.

The old "you must be a freeper if you don't idolize Clinton." No I'm not an avid Fox Watcher. But hey, I hear they are hiring former Clinton staffers.

26. I don't idolize Clinton. That was not my point at all. In case you missed it
my point was that Bush and his criminal allies' timing couldn't have been more perfect to ruin what me and my wife worked have all of our lives for. When we finally get to enjoy some of the benefits of working all our life, doing without to be able to save and do the best for our children, it's all disappearing as if it were being eaten by cancer.
My ugly republican sister in law likes to get off on a tangent and argue about some piss-ant detail, much like you're doing.
Trust me, a man with experience is never at the mercy of a freeper with an argument. I don't argue. You may take your argument and if you fold it just right, you can place it where the sun doesn't shine.

Wasn't it Clinton who when the heat was on him from Monicagate and financial woes who decided it was time to send some bombs Baghdad way killing innocents too ?. Didn't hear calls for impeachment or trials there. Kind of has worked both ways a lot of the time.
