1. I was incensed, then amused, today as asshole Lou Dobbs railed against Obama's

suggestions that U.S. school students learn more foreign languages, while the CNN subtitles-for-mouthbreathers proclaimed "Obama demands you speak Spanish," or some such hyperbole. I think it's getting enough over the top so that a majority of viewers might actually see the M$M what it really is.

2. I am stunned that "learning to speak a second language" is such a hot button issue.

The United States is the ONLY industrialized nation in which the majority of the population does not speak a second language. Learning a foreign language only serves to broaden your world view and help you interact better with the world as a whole. Visit Italy, France or Japan, for example, and you'll have no difficulty getting around in the cities because so many of the residents also speak English. I wonder if the residents of other countries raise such a stink about their children becoming more educated as we do here in the U.S.?
